Well today turned out pretty well for me. Took me a bit to get used to launching without bogging down (track surface was great today). Here are my two best times of the day with pump and race fuel.

93 Octane pump gas on 22psi
E/T 12.1912
MPH 113.38
60ft 1.7469

114 Octane (three gallons mixed) at 27 psi
E/T 11.7533
MPH 120.87
60ft 1.7241

I made one last run to back up the 11 second run but just as I was pulling up to the lights my check engine light came on (P0171 System too Lean). In fourth gear it felt like it was pulling timing and I ran 11.83 @ 119.

Welcome to the area! Too hard to start? Are you running an AEM or just have problems with the cold-start tune?
This area is not bad depending on where you want to live. Stay away from the north side of town (Murchinson Rd, Bragg Blvd) and around Cliffdale Rd. Raeford and Hope Mills have some very nice housing areas as well as east Fayetteville.

The closest track is on the southeast side of town near the airport. If you're driving from post it will take you about 20 minutes or so to get to it. They have "Freaky Fridays" the first friday of the month from 7PM till ??? and they also run every Sunday 1-6. We just got back from racing today.

There are no less than 6 of us that get together and hang out on occasion and we usually have at least 4 of us together on track days if not more. Some of the locals are myself, BigRic09, theEVOdream, krazirob, ries, freshsrt-4 and a few others. PM any of us if you want to come hang out sometime.

Brian

nice times. is the track always open down here, or will it close for the winter?

Uhm...not sure. The website is www.fayettevillemotorsportspark.com but it's a very poor source of information on what they have going on... And apparantly the site is down...

i have AEM, revolver cams, and buschur racing cdi ignition, to name a few things. i also use a race oil that is 20w-50. makes my car hate cold weather! lol

i may try to come to the track next weekend to watch. i hope to have my car down here around march, and get in on some of the action.

i am from WV and the closest track we have is an 1/8th mile track, so i am looking forward to seeing what it can do in the 1/4!

Did BR tell you to run that thick of oil at all times? I'm sure you'd be fine running a 5 or 10w30 around with that stroker.
As for next weekend, come on out. As long as the weather is good we'll be heading to the track Friday night. And with your mods I'm sure you'll have no problem cutting mid 11's or better.

Nice times Brian! Anyone else?
Chris ran a 12.94 on pump but I don't remember his trap speed. I'm sure he'll fill ya in on it.

yes, with the way my engine is set up, dave recommended i only run a race oil. will help the engine last a lot longer, and keeps temps down at high psi and rpm's.

i know the car can get around mid 11's my problem at the moment is traction. the torque hits extremely hard and breaks loose in 1st and 2nd. i just have to go to the track and run it. it should come to me in time.

LOL...good to know as the 2.3 is probly my next step but it'll be awhile for that.

The track conditions are pretty good here. When it warms up you can get some good traction if you run an R compound or slick. Street tires do alright with good launches in the 1.6 range.

There is also a Mustang Dyno going in at H&H Performance soon. They are a new tuning shop that just opened up and once they get the dyno installed they'll also be doing tuning.

hey whats up man, just got home from the track and shopping, what a joy lol.... cpdevo, how are you ? welcome to the area.. .most all of us are in the military minus the guy with the white RS, that hangs out with us. Cant wait to see your car, sounds interesting, it will be the 1st 2.3 any of us have seen in town. Right now, as of tonight, cirrusly evolvd has the fastest one in town, and when freshsrt gets back and gets his on the track again with some better temps and his setup ironed out he should be pretty quick as well. Also, if you are looking to get rid of your turbo... Ries may be interested in picking it up, he has been talking about going 20G lately. Anyway, welcome to the area, as C E said, PM any of us if you want to hang out sometime and we can all get together

awesome. thanks alot guys. are the winters pretty bad down here? if it seems nice around january or february i may bring the car down early. the 2.3 is a nice motor and with the small turbo is killer in the torque category. i can be loaded with 4 people in the car and still pull like a **** out of the whole. it just loses topend with this small turbo.

what does everyone do in the military?

if i get my new setup, i will definitely be selling my 20g. i will keep him in mind.

actually winters are mild, your car would probably be just fine down here... it doesnt snow much to at all here... road conditions are fine. As far as what everyone does... freshsrt and I are in the army with 3d Special forces, cirrusly evolvd and theevodream are air force guys so as you can imagine they dont do anything, ries is about to finish up language school so he can go get paid doing 18C work out west... if you are in town now, you will have to give us a call before friday.... we should be getting together for freaky friday... brian, chris and myself may all run if the weather is right
