Deals Gap? NC CLC
 

I am posting ahead of time to see if we can get a group together to do an end of season meet (if you want to call it that) The end of October 23rd – 24th weekend to do a Deals Gap run. All import vehicles welcome to join along Subaru, Honda, Toyota, whatever come on let’s go.
Post up let get some replies so we can get the ball rolling. If you post and want to go cool, if you post and can’t make it oh well. Lets get some feed back on this one folks I think that this post is well in advance so everyone can plan for it ahead of time.
I just want to see if there is enough interest to continue with this idea any further. :cool:

What is Deals Gap and where is it located? I might be back in time for this....maybe.

I actually just went last weekend. That road is so great Im up for more. :) I was planning on going up there again sometime soon so I will see if that weekend works for me.

Cirrusly Evolvd: Deals Gap is a 11 mile stretch with over 300 curves on it. Its highway 129 right by the border of NC and TN. It runs along Smokey Mountain Park. I would say it is one of the best roads in the country as far as curves. Here is a pic I took last weekend of one of the many great curves.

What were you doing in the passanger's seat??:lol:

I have a custom RHD Evo 8. :lol: That was actually my friend taking pictures in the passanger seat (while trying to hold on for dear life). I told him it would be better then a rollercoaster ride. :) Next time Im out there I am bringing a video camera to record.

BTW. I may not be able to make it to this meet unless Im able to get a new clutch by then. My poor stock clutch has had enough after my last trip to the Dragon and has about given up. Its slipping pretty bad. Do any of you guys know of a good place to have a clutch installed in or around Raleigh?

If Rob and Tim are down then count me in too. As long as I;m not working. My birthday is the next week on Halloween! And no I don't want any candy! But hell yeah I'm down if I'm not working! PEACE!!!!

Is it even passable at the moment, after all the rain and resultant mud slides from Hurricane Ivan? I know that I-40 was/is closed in that same area. I wonder how the Dragon faired?

386 to be exact. curves. I maybe up for that. We were gonna go earlier but the plan fell through.

don't worry about roads, the roads that were affected are not in that area

lets see, here is the email i got from the director of the NC DOT

sept 19th

- traffic is flowing again on i-40, 1 lane but flowing, 6months to a yr before 2 lanes are back

- roads still out

us 64 between highlands and franklin
us 221 in northern mcdowell county
n.c. 107 between cullowhee and cashiers



anyway, that is the short version

the highway that runs through the smokies is u.s. 441, and the section of I-40 we need to get there is fine so there are no worries

believe me, if there is a road out in NC i know about it {thumbup}
