security alarm and question

How is one able to steal the 08-09 lancer with a fast key? isn't there a code that must be communicated for the engine to start?

Anyways i found an alarm for our car by compustar and it costs 300 bucks. if you have a fast key this is the one that will work and not complicate things (as per salesman) however one place i know that will install it is charging $450... so $750 ...ouch

anyone have inputs? group buy?

Easy, call a tow truck.

In reality all of the new vehicles come with a chip in the key that is registered with a code that the Ignition system must match up in order for it to turn over. No chip signal no turn over make's it more annoying to steal as there more work to be done. But like somebody on lancertuners mentioned, its really not so difficult to steal a car with or without a FAST key integration or even with a chip, I just will not get into it due to legalities, but just be aware that any car can be stolen even with an alarm system.

Just a few pointers if you want to make the car really annoying to the guy trying to steal it. Paint it pink. No when you get your alarm installed make sure you have a power back up for the system in case they disconnect the battery and also make it so damn difficult to get at the alarm module and the horn that they wont even bother. This includes all of the wiring. Even if you have to rip it all apart and put it back together.

Another option is getting a GPS tracking system.

As for the FAST key and the alarm don't have one, FAST key that is.

/but install for 450 or even 750?? that's insane.

If you are really serious about a alarm install there is a guy who can do it all for well under $450 total. Hes part of another forum and did my audio and tints. Great guy to deal with. He has great specials on 2 way pagers with tilt sensors etc by all the top companys like viper etc. Hes done alot of high end cars so he can answer your question about fast keys

Ive been thinking about getting this done before any other mods. I could ask him about specials and i could pm you his info.

that'd be nice.. can you pm me his info? thanks

yeah i think 750 for an alarm is wayyyy too much. even if it gave me all the bells and whistles. Sometimes i wonder what the point of having a nice car when it can be stolen.

I saw a rolls royce phantom last week at timmies. i wonder what he has for an alarm...

There is a vendor interested in sponsoring the website that we are in dialog with right now. They are in the Alarm / Sound / Starter Segment and may be able to provide us with some great deals.

And the Service the GTA area

So far things look encouraging

I will keep everyone posted.
