Haha I like those questions!

1) Our Ford Crown Victorias have more power than my CVT GT at least! Much more aggressive shifting (I don't know if there's a chip that's responsible for that). Handling I think is a little bit easier on the Crown Vic as well... although that might be a biased observation since I treat my Lancer with more care than the service's Crown Vic.

2) I'd have to double check on the height of the lowering. To my knowledge, there's no charge for having a lowered car.

3) According to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, NoS is not allowed (assuming it's connected). If it's disconnected and the canister is clearly visible in the car or outside the car, then it's okay. But that kinda defeats the purpose if it's not hooked up, eh?

4) I'm a cop 24/7. But if I'm at a club BBQ I'm not gonna go insane and start tackling people if they decide to blaze a bit. I just won't take part. Plus I don't get paid if I bust you guys off-duty anyway

5) I'm a cop in Toronto. Won't tell you the division though

6) If I pulled over a fellow member of the club (which I would rarely do... I still haven't pulled over a Lancer in my career), I'd probably end up letting you go if it's something small. Unless you give me a reason to write you up... ie. rudeness, gross disobedience of the law, endangerment of public.

Hope that helped!

Just an addition to that post.. I did a little bit of research because I was curious.. and the Police Crown Vics range in HP from 215-235... definitely more powerful than my measly 152.

thats exactly what my friend whom is also a cop for york region said.
if he pulled me over or friends over if it's a small thing he'd let me off. unless i was going like 100 on a 60 or sumthing stupid. like drifting on the streets.

he also said usually he lets most people off easy, people who are co-operative w/ the police that is.

rudeness never pays! hah be nice when u get pulled over and dont pms all over the cops and they'll be nice to you too lol thats what i learned 1st hand at least twice =P

also i have a question

are you guys told to do ''random'' checks aka pulling people over. especially w/ cars that are tinted or modified with young people driving?

But still, welcome. hope to see you out at these events. again if you have anything in mind to do to your ride, just ask, we are a decent bunch whose combined experiences seems to cover almost every aspect of vehicle customization and modification and the bonus is were always willing to lend a hand.

btw how bout that card now?? lol

helped lots man thanks

i asked about the nitrous cuz incase you use it for track use and you are driving to the track one day and get pulled over its good to know whats up , cuz i have heard so many different storied bout it and somewhere in there heard you need a liscence to transport nitrous

also the ride height i have seen cops bust out the tape measure before so thats why i asked that one

curious to know if you're planning on doing performance mods? for example an exhaust is probably deemed illegal but would you knowingly install one on your car knowing you're not meant to have it?

Yeah Infamous, I actually double checked on the height of the ride at work today.
As long as your chassis doesn't touch your tires and you can drive without the car scraping the ground, you're good.

I don't know about the tape measure because there's nothing saying anything about numbers for ride height. The only time I could think of that would require tape measure is for those Choppers with the super-high handlebars. Though it's probably not a great idea to challenge a copper if he does decide to pull out the tape measure on your ride... like Absolute said, don't be rude and don't be a smart-aleck, or else you'll just get charged with more stuff.

And with the "random checks," there's no traffic stop that's truly random. there's always a reason. Like a young person driving, I would pull over because I wanna make sure that he/she has a valid driver's licence and insurance. Or a modded car, an officer might pull it over to make sure it's not stolen/chopped, or make sure all the mods are legal.

Thanks for such a warm welcome guys!

Hmm... I haven't heard anything about a super or turbo charger law being in the works. I wouldn't think the Ministry of Transportation has much say in the Highway Traffic Act anyway.

I'm a bit of a noob at the inner workings of a car though-- how would a turbo charger function in terms of making the car faster? That might help me give you a more solid response on any turbo charger updates.

And rontam.. probably not gonna spring for any major performance mods anytime soon. I figure since I don't plan on doing any racing, I'm not gonna go insane with it. It's gonna be mostly visual for me, and maybe a little bit to help me get up to speed with traffic on the on-ramps of 401. And adding exhaust isn't illegal! It's just really annoying if it's ricer-loud.

HOWEVER-- I do have like... 20% tints all around. Which is somewhat illegal for the front windows. But I haven't been pulled over yet for them!
