I looked into it about 2 months go, and as you know the currency exchange rate was a different story. I think we were sitting at below 90 cents. Now within a week and half the dollar has jumped and leaped. That said, even if you took todays exchange rate which is about 96 cents vs. 1 US dollars. and you factor in what your credit card company would charge you in exchange rate. your buying power would be about 93 cents (bank rate 3-4%) If you take your exchange rate into account the total would come in at or around 500 dollars when your credit card company is done with you.Originally Posted by AndrewM56

TireMag price:
Excise Tax: $0.00
GST: $15.36
PST: $31.20
Duty: $0.00
Provincial Tire Fee: $23.36
Brokerage Fee: $20.00
Grand Total (USD): $459.94
All that said, I have no control over TireRack should something go wrong..... Of course, Tirerack has a great track record in the way of customer service here on the board, so either way your in good hands. What I mean is, if something is wrong at Tiremag, I can inquire, I can ask, to ensure things are smooth.
Second last point, the tires prices vary up and down from brand to brand, tire to tire. So your entirely right, there can be a tire we are talking about that its possible to get cheaper... But this is what we are working with.
Final point. One can order tire/rubber from Tirerack, but unfortunately, the price of steel rims at this stage in the game will run you thru the roof. sourcing it locally Since Tire Places dont exactly sell steel rims without the tires.

Sorry I didnt specify what tire. They were the exact same Firestone Winterforce tire from both places that I had quoted.
Yeah I guess if you account for conversion rate they equal to be about the same. I dont need rims though because I am going to use my 16 inch stokers as winter rims and get new summer rims next year.

An added reminder, and I cant say this enough, doesnt matter where you want to get your tires from, I higherly recommend that you look into picking up a set of Winter Tires now. Tire supplies are seeing a drop as there is snow expected in some parts of the country in the coming week.
Second, at the end of the month, Tire Mag will no longer be paying for your OTS fee.
So make a move now.
Cheers

i can ask around, but this seasons tire buy is coming to a close and in feb, we will be focusing on summer stuff.
getting back to ur request for info, take a look at the origional post and see what ur looking for in a tire. better ice traction, better deep snow, or the blend of both.
the conti extreme winter contact is looking to be winter tire of the year according to tirerack. if ur on a budget, go for the barum polaris 2.
let me know and we can see who has supply
