Installing HIDS
thanks evosoul, i thought i was being ripped off, not like i was thinking to pay that price in the first place. is there a link to buy them on here? or even better, what is the best place locally to buy them. also, about the 'bypassing', does it mess with the warranty and what exactly is it.
kinda random, but i've been wondering.. is there any way to run our fogs only?

1) kits use lower wattage, so heat generally will be the same if not less. So the meltage factor is reduced.
2) because the kit comes with a Relay kit, it regulates the voltage so it will minimize even normal flicker. and the second thing it comes with is a canbus fix.... think of that as kind of a mini capacitor. Now an example that they are working and doing its job is, your leave your lancer head light switch in the on position. Dont crank the car all the way, turn the car on as if you were going to just close your window or sunroof and need power. (two clicks with the key) You will see the head lights turn on normally. Now I noticed without the relay, if you started the engine the ballast would flicker and ignite the bulbs. (not really good for the long term health of the kit.)
With the Relay, when you crank it, they kit remains working and constant. There might be the odd time when it flickers for a nano second. But for the most part the operation remains uninterrupted.
Where the Canbus comes in, since it acts as a capacitor even if you have your head lights in the off position or on DRL, it will insure that your headlights remain on no matter what. IF you start the car and forget to turn on your head lights, enough power eventually pools into the Canbus Fix to ignite the bulbs. The canbus fix insures that no matter what a steady voltage / wattage is provided to insure that even under DRL conditions, enough power gets to the kit.
NOTE: If you have one of those high wattage 55watt kits. A standard Canbus fix may not work. I have run into a few guys that wanted to try my Canbus fix and i was scratching my head why it didnt work for them... after ripping apart the kit,,, we found out that its a higher wattage kit. Some consider higher wattage HIDs the way to go, other think its over kill. A 35 watt kit is already 2.5 Times brighter then halogen, 55 watt gives you 3.0 times brighter... its it worth it?
If your having flicker problems... I would say no... not to mention the additional heat.
I think you get my point...
XenonDepot has a website that explains their kits. The japanese kits by default come with its own custom designed Relay

Steve the owner of Xenon Depot has pledge to include Antiflicker Canbus kits into the kit, to make it be the 100% complete solution for your HID needs (9006).
So about warranty, with all the fixes in there, there are so many redundancies in there to prevent failure. If something ever would to fail , it would be some part of the kit, not anything that is OEM on your car. I just dont see it possible. That said, There are other brand kits out there I wouldnt know. I have seen guys message me cause the kit blew a fuse, or melted awire, in one case I even saw a voltage low warning triggered. WTF.... verified on my scan tool.
So for me... XenonDepot is head and shoulders above everyone else. IF you have been in business the longest, sold more kits then anyone else. and have a high approval rating from customers with a public record (clubrsx and club lexus). You have to be doing something right.
The headlights are OEM HIDs (4300k) with projectors, but the foglights are the kit that was shown earlier and are 3000k (yellow). The yellow light projected on the ground that you see is the fog lights, not the headlights.
With projectors you can get a proper cutoff so that you dont blind other people. HID projectors have been OEM equipment for some cars for a long time. The problem with HIDs with reflectors is that they will be more "blinding". That is why people tend to hate civics with HIDs
anyone know if this kit would be good? a friend of mine bought his from this site and he said its good so im just wondering

Reflectors are a big part of the issue. Some cars just are not optimized for hids. Another factor is the light temp. The higher temps are harder on the human eye than others. Yellow is one that isn't as bad.
If you cut the headlight wire and the foglight wire and switch them you can run fogs without headlights, Ive seen it done before.
I have HIDs in my car, and havnt had any problems yet, I got fogs and lows in my car, LOVE the way they look
