Toronto mod purchases

First I'd like to say that I'm new to these forums and found out about them at projectlancer and learned about Toronto Lancer Club. I just purchased my Lancer, an 08 Lancer ES and I'm excited for being able to mod it and I can see that theres a great Lancer following and "brotherhood".

Now to ask you a few noob questions about lancers in the GTA, first, I'm curious as to whether you guys know any good tint places in Toronto for lancers, I've heard that to tint your lancer you need the moleskin to protect the tint from scratching, is this true? How much should I expect to pay for tinting on a Lancer.

Secondly, what are some good vendors for rims/wheels? If I just want to blackout my rims, would I just plasti-dip them with several coats?

Finally, I've seen the ebay 8" LCD OEM-style in-dash navi/dvd system, does anyone from Toronto have this? Where did you order it from? Did you have to pay customs on it? How hard was it to install?

Sorry about all the questions but I'm eager and lacking in knowledge .

Thanks in advance

Welcome.

Tint places - Audio Heaven, the provide a life time warranty on all their installs. I think it will run you about $170 t0 $190 and $20 extra for the install of the mole skin.

Rims - Tires23, good prices and great service.

LCD OEM style dash - I saw a fellow member had found this and purchased it, Im not sure who he is but it looked pretty good.

for your rims, if you just want to black them out theres two ways you can do it, plasti dip them or you can do what i did...sand off the clear coat (i used 300 grit) then just cover with paint (i used tremclad) and just did like 5 coats (if you want a more detailed how to just lmk) total cost was under 20

thanks for the help guys, mattcanada, does the way you painted them prevent chipping and pressure washer wear/tear? Also when's your next meet? I'd love to come out (although my Lancer would not be as sweet as many of yours) to get some ideas and meet some of you guys.

for 1000 dollars it looks nice, but i would hate for it to crap out on me 6 months into it. Canada weather is brutal and i cant tell you how many times I have had extended warranty replacements from best buy for my other cars lol . its like a new stereo every 2 years

I whole-heartedly concur about weather/cold destroying stereos, i would especially think it would destroy after-market/random-factory-in-china LCD screens.

I used to work for future shop, if you plan on spending a lot on a system for your car, get the extended warranty, if you tell them the price is too much for the warranty, they'll drop it without a doubt, in reality they will drop the price a lot more if you tell them you'll get extended warranty because it's free profit for them, and in the end it works to your benefit if something goes wrong since an external insurance company takes care of the problems, future shop/best buy doesn't care if you bring it in for repairs 1000 times, they'll help you everytime.

On the topic in question tho, I still feel as though I would like a group buy for this system, unless there's an aftermarket dash-kit and system that looks as OEM as this does and provides the same features in the same price range (I highly doubt this could happen)
