^^^^ I heard of that trick... but I heard it doesn't work on these cars??? They said something like there must be some sense of rotation in order for the computer to register the sensors properly. So if the sensors aren't turning... the computer will think something is wrong.

I don't know this for sure... just saying what I heard.

Also.... I kinda want the TPMS feature. I got a puncture recently.... and the system told me that before I even realized it thru how the car felt or by visually seeing something wrong with the tire.

So I checked on pricing for the TPMS sensors. TireRack wants US$220 shipped to your door (this includes brokerage fees and everything).

I called the dealer... the want about $100+tax per sensor!!! So right there it looks obvious NOT to order TPMS sensors from the dealer.

Maple said they want $50 to program your sensors.

I recall seeing tpms on canadian tire's website that are re-programmable (so you can clone your oem sensors so the car doesn't need to be reprogrammed every tine you swap wheels)

why not removed the tpms off of the oem wheels and place it on your aftermarket wheels?

You can do that but need to order rebuild kits for each one as they break or get scorn when removed (designed that way)

Correct. And Tirerack does offer you the rebuild kit if you select Evo as the vehicle. That's how I knew something called TPMS rebuild kit.

Is that true? One of my friend told me that you just need to unscrew the nut that holds the tpms outside and it'll be off

remove the factory TPMS from your tires could easily damage it from what I read on other sub-forum so people might not want to try this

False, as long as the sensors are inside the car somewhere it will work.

I've hauled my stock tires(with tpms) in the car for a 30 min drive no warning lights. Just as soon as I unload the tires and restarted the car, warning comes on

hope that helps!

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

And, some info about that particular TPMS

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/Resea...TPMSBuying.jsp

Near the bottom of that info page:
"... For Asian vehicles, Orange Electronics offers a unique programmable sensor system (OPSS) that updates the sensor, eliminating complicated or expensive vehicle updates to the vehicle TPMS receiver. ..."

worth investigating,, if someone wants to go this route, pls post your feedback
