Q about Max. Tires Size - 09 Lancer

Hey , I am looking at getting new rims this summer for my 09 Lancer GT, the ones I found are wider than I expected, 8.75'', meaning I need at least a 235/40/R18 tire ... my question is will this even fit on a normal lancer?

Thanks for the help

Yeah man it'll fit. Not sure if there will be rubbing depends on offset but I am running 18x9's +45 offset with a 225/40/R18 tire on them all summer with no problems so you should be okay. I have a 2008 Lancer GTS so it is also a "regular" lancer.

Nope. Sometimes it rubs a little bit when I have 4 or 5 people in the car going over bumps fast but nothing serious. Going to have to roll when I drop 2" come next season lol. Post up pics when you got em'! Good luck

speaking of dropping, anyone know whether there'll be any damage on the struts/suspension from drop springs? I'm looking to drop as well but I'm also thinking that I'd probably have to take the springs off come next winter because it was bad enough driving in t.o. without a drop.

With springs I know eventually it will mess up shocks. Go with coilovers do it right the first time. That's my strategy at least. up in the winter. down in the summer.

I don't think there is such a thing as 8.75" wide...it would probably be 8.5" or 9" wide.

Yeah some manufactures are specific like that having 8.75" rims and what not.

As for the rims fitting I don't know enough about offset to field that question. All I know is that since you dropping anyways having anything more than an 8.5" means rolling anyways. SO I say go for it. Im pretty sure +35 will look SICK as well more flush if my understanding is correct. I'll try to find some more info but yeah.

Good luck. orrrr wait till I do my 18x9 +45 and I can tell you the work involved lol.

18x8.75 would be 18x8 3/4"

Some companies do it. Tires are in mm so it works out

Just went into next mod they said with a 45 offset it would but the 35 would rub too much. But they are getting me some 8.5's should get the same effect.
