Cool CO High Altitude TT re-Flash

I was just wondering whether TT has any experience with EVO's for high alt. mail-in applications.

I live in Denver and plan on reflashing soon after I install my turboback exhaust. Also, I've heard that with TT flash you still must have a MBC of some kind is that true?

I hope to be running around 300-320 awhp up here. Do you think that's possible with:

-TB exhaust
-K&N drop-in filter
-Blitz DD BOV (w/hard spring)
-Hallman MBC set at 21 psi
-Walbro 255 lph
-TT reflash

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks...

It's realistic on 91 oct w/cat (corrected that is), you can run a little more boost than 21psi and be careful with an MBC, altitude affects boost so you will be constantly adjusting it if you head up into the mountains ever. Electronic controllers adjust to your max number for you so you don't have to worry about overboosting.

With that in mind, I guess setting the MBC at 19psi for mountain driving would only result in running rich, that doesn't really bother me; seeing as how I like to get up and ride every winter. Thanks for the replies though.

Good question.

I'm at 344AWHP at 21psi on 91 octane w/ S-AFC and would be curious to see what a flash would do to help.

You don't live too far from me buddaboba.

^^^ Hell yea, we should meet up sometime after I've completed my mods. Nice numbers btw, with only an SAFC tune that's pretty impressive.

I'm pretty impressed as well with the S-AFC. I know you can do much more with an AEM/EMS but for now the S-AFC is doing just fine.

Here are my mods:

3" Helix turbo back w/ Helix hi-flow cat
PRO1 exhaust manifold
DnP O2 housing
HKS 272/272 cams
Buschur MAF pipe
Buschur UICP
Buschur FMIC
HKS SSQV BOV-VTA
8.5mm plug wires
255lph fuel pump
S-AFC
Profec B-Spec EBC

344AWHP / 350AWTRQ

The tune was very safe. Much more room to play with. I have a few more things to do then it's back on the dyno. Get your mods done!

I just did a mail in the other day for a guy with an afc, who tunes himself. Basically the afc is great but you lose low end power over a flash. So what i did was advanced his timing at peak torque and kept his timing figures stock up top. You will find on average about 30 more ft lbs with a flash over a safc, up top you dont see a big difference over safc only because the afc tricks the ecu into running more timing with the airflow signal interupted .. Hope i made this clear..

Thanks for the info.

So with a flash I would basically have to disconnect the S-AFC.

I'd like to look into getting a flash if possible from you guys.

Sorry I'm new at this, but I couldn't help but wonder.... if TT reflashes the stock ECU for better performance levels, couldn't they also put a custom tune your stock ECU instead of fooling around with a safc? I dunno about anyone else, but having a performance modified stock ECU control all my stuff with the same built-in safegaurds as stock sounds a lot better than using a piggy-backed safc. Are there any advantages to doing it with a safc over a reflashed stock ECU cuz to me it seems like the only way to go.

Yes, it would actually be better, if you don't particularly want to tune everything yourself, to get a reflash. And, yes, this does render an AFC obsolete or silly. The problem is, many of us have the uncontrollable urge to tinker with our cars, so an AFC is absolutely necessary. I have been back and forth on whether or not to go with an AFC, total EMS, or just a reflash. My problem has always been how will I extract the power I want myself? The answer: probably can't. So I've decided to do a few mods and let TT or Dynoflash have their fun with my ECU. I would love it if TT came to COLORADO!!!!! Just my 2c...

BTW - We're having a drive this weekend in CO - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=114581

Evoisdream will be there too....
