I have a 05' Evo version 8 and I was told by a friend who had a 03 and trading that for an MR that the downpipe does not fit. But he wasn't completly sure because he has a 6 speed? Maybe a ep from Turbotrix could tell me if the Helix o2 housing and DP would fit on my 05' version 8. I'm dying here ready to mod my evo. If I dn't find out soon I might just boost my GSX-R 1000 and say the hell with the evoo and leave it stock for a year. But I would like to really get some mods on that car. If anyone knows anything please let me know

Thanks but can you get into a bit more detail how do you know this. I mean is the MR tranny casing that big that it would not fit? I trust me driend cause he barely got his lower and upper IC pipes to fit. Hs Buscher FM that barely fit with the ACD line and pump located around there. ANd well the DP too

 

I've read in some other threads aswell that certain downpipes don't fit on the MRs. I think there was a vendor that needed an MR to see what was different and help make a new DP for the 05's.

 

There is nothing physically different with an 05 EVO 8 compared to earlier models.

 

are you speaking form experiance? Does anyone in your crew of evos have a 05 version 8 with o2 housing and DP

 

Hmm, we have 2 MRs, but I am not positive if there is an 05. I am sure there is but I don't know who.

I am speaking from this:

Tell me what is different about your 05 from an 03/04. Tranny? No. Transfer case? No. Engine? No. Chassis? No. Body? No. Turbo? No. (different exhaust housing does not change anything). So what is different on an 05? Nothing is different. It will fit.

 

In our Evo Crew (www.evo-ny.com) we have about 7-9 '05 GSR's with aftermarket DP's from DC Sports, to RSR and they all fit fine with theirs =)

So the external dimensions of the transfer case is larger?

 

I have an 05 evo and its the same as the earlier years

 

We have experienced fitment issues with a few of the Evo's in our club. I can't remember off hand but I know the Helix DP would not fit. I have heard that a new version is now available that will fit however.

 

ErroR what about the fitment was improper? Because some of the downpipes don't even fit 03's!

 

i put a invidia 3 inch DP on a MR ....no issues at all.....

 

yup ive read this also, invidia and works are 2 of them that fit
