smokie, I got a couple of questions about the tune. First can you guys remove the boost taper or do I need a mbc? Second can you adjust or remove the launch rev limiter? Third which cams would you recomend for a stock turbo, stock injector 05 mr? 272's or 280's? Do you recomend cam gears? Only mods so far are mr d/v and 3" tbe. I'm going to install a new fuel pump and probally just go with a K&N drop in also before the tune. I will call soon with the info for the deposit.

More questions for the gurus.

When do deposits need to be paid by?

This is what I am looking at needing done:
Injector scaling for 680 injectors; I already have a basic XEDEFlash (removes fuel/boost cut and ups the rev to 8k). Shiv really recommends tuning for injector scaling with a flash.
What will be the charge for a basic flash just for the injector scaling or if I can convince Shiv to send me a scaled XEDEFlash can you guys apply that?

Pump & Race gas tune for with the following mods (XEDE, EBC,FULL TBE,HKS 280s, Walbro).

due to the pos stock boost solenoid there isn't really a way to get rid of boost taper with the flash.. even when you flash the car to stay at 20psi for the entire rpm range, it still drops off.. you would have to get a boost control to do it right. on the 05's I don't think anyone has found a way to remove the launch rev limiter.. if you guys know that Al or someone else can, let me know and i'll get the update.. but last I heard, there wasn't one. As for the cams, It depends on how crazy you are about the car.. I personally, can deal with the lumpy idle for the 280's.. the power mid range and up top is definately worth the little bit of lumpy idle.. (no stalling, ever, not on our flash anyway) the 272's will idle definately more like stock but still get the car to pickup 25-30hp @ the wheels.. we have seen jumps of almost 50hp with the 280's.. Cam gears, for the amount of money you spend on them usually $350+ for the set, and after messing with them on the dyno for 45 min you pickup about 5-7hp.. it seems pointless.. they do look much nicer then stock.. let me know if you need anymore help..

Deposits need to be in no later then 1 week prior to the tune.. but obviously the earlier the better. Mark can scale the injectors for 680, he'll probably charge $100. If you can get shiv to send you an xede update then he can load that as well.

I'd say go with the 280's. I have not had one single problem with the idle at all. It does get a little rough when running the A/C, but other then that it idles smooth. I would recommend bigger injectors for them. If you are ever in town you can check out my car since I run the 280's with a TT flash.

Launch Control

You can remove the switch under neath your dash and it will take out the launch control, I can show it to you on that night or explain how to do it, its very simple and will take all of one minute to do.

Of course I would not recommend this because the whole purpose of the 5k rev limiter is to limit potential damage to the clutch, drivetrain, etc. Thanks goes to Leon's pit crew for locating this switch/plug ...

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Keith...there may be a guy coming up for the tune from Tampa. I was thinking we could be gracious hosts and maybe make arrangements for him to crash at someone's pad overnight. That way he doesn't have to get a hotel room or make that long *** drive home after the tune. I would offer but I got Mark and four cousins from Jacksonville staying with me that weekend. Thanks guys.

Hey guys thanks for the info on the connector. I wasn't really wanting to go that route just because some guys say it causes the car to run lean during shifts (not exactly sure how it does that but who knows). I might try it for the tune but what I was really wanting was to just raise the rev limit to a higher rpm kind of like the works flash . They're flash raises the rev limit to 6000 and can adjust the boost w/ the ecu. It comes with different hoses which is supposed to be the fix for the boost taper. It just real expensive like everything else that works puts out. I also decided that I'm going to go with the hks 280s. Which injectors would you suggest? I was thinking in the 700-800cc range, might upgrade to a 20g someday in the distant future and would like to buy injectors just once.

Damn Wrick, one more tuning day and that should be good for a free turbo kit. Mark must get wood everytime he hears Wrick is on the phone from Pensacola.

Anthony....I've got some 680cc injectors that are Chris' for sale. They will be out of my car on about a week before the tune if you want them. The 680's should be good enough for the 20g. Let me know, I don't think Chris wants a lot for them.
