Buschur Racing bolt on fuel pressure regulator
Buschur Racing bolt on fuel pressure regulator
We have been busy. Very busy. We haven't let up yet and we don't intend to anytime soon!
We have a bunch of new products we are releasing immediately for the EVO8's and EVO9's.
First up is the new adjustable fuel pressure regulators. Many of us are at the limit of our current fuel injectors. Whether it be a set of stock fuel injectors or 1600cc injectors. Up until now we have left the stock fuel pressure regulators on the cars and they have worked great. My RS recently ran 9.04 at 159.64 mph on the bone stock fuel pressure regulator. At that performance level with the 1200 cc injectors I am running out of fuel and out of choices. The 1600 cc injectors do not run well at idle and low speed on such a small cubic inch engine. Finding an injector that was just a hundred or few hundred CC's larger was impossible. The EVO with the stock regulator has about 38 psi at the fuel rail. Every fuel injector manufacturer that builds injectors for the DSM/EVO's flows their injectors at 43-45 psi. The solution was to build an nice, clean fuel pressure regulator that simply bolts on to the factory fuel rail to increase the base fuel pressure. That's what we did.
We are now offering these brand new fuel pressure regulators to get your base fuel pressure up from stock.

The price on these are $195. You will also need a way to check your fuel pressure to set the base pressure. The regulator will NOT bypass more fuel than the stock regulator does. So if you are having a problem overrunning your stock regulator from a fuel pump that is too big this is not a fix for it. This will simply raise the fuel pressure from the base stock setting.

The best way to check the fuel pressure is to have an aftermarket rail with a port in it for a gauge. If you don't have that you are going to need an adapter of to go between the fuel line and fuel rail.
is there a way for you to make this regulator have an extra port so that you can hook a fuel gauge up directly to the regulator without the need to purchase an adapter for a gauge or a new fuel rail?

No way to put a fuel port on the regulator. You will either need a fuel rail with a port or a adapter for the gauge to set it temporarily. I think, because of how we milled these. I can put one on my car and then set the rest of them the same and get the fuel pressure extremely close at base to 43-45 psi before we even ship them.
would there be an extra charge for you to preset the base pressure to 43-45 psi? i don't mind getting a liquid filled fuel pressure gauge for the engine bay, but if I order this prior and want to go ahead and install it, that would be nice to know it's pretty close. then once I get the gauge, I could fine tune it if needed.
I can preset them that wouldn't be a problem BUT I am going to guess depending on the injector, fuel pump, voltage to the fuel pump etc., that the setting I put in it won't be dead on compared to someone else's car. That's my guess anyway. I'd be glad to do it though.
I just got off the phone with Dejan from Pruven Performance. He made a fuel pressure adapter years ago for the EVO's and I was reminded about it from Al at Dynoflash last night. I just bought some of them from him.
The adapter bolts between the fuel rail and fuel line on the inlet end. It has two 1/8th NPT ports on it. They sell for $45 and then you need a gauge. I have some coming to me now. This will be the best solution for setting/checking fuel pressure for someone with a stock fuel rail.
