how much louder is the external dump that the recirculated one? also, sorry for the newb question, but whats the benefit of an external dump? just that it eliminates(reduces?) boost creep or what? haha

It is quite a bit louder, but only under full boost. so unless you are trying to be sneaky during times of wide open throttle you should be good 
In regards to external dump it's main purpose it to reduce or eliminate boost creep, but it will also improve performance based on a reduction of turbulence in the exhaust
