As long as it's the Pro version it will work well. The Basic version is model specific.

So the 9 basic non cdi non sequential wont fit on the evo 8?
I was told that the only difference was the plate had cut outs for the 9 valve cover and the 8 is straight all the way around.

NonCdi and basic cdi fits lower into the valve cover therefore as you mentioned you are limited by the shape of the valve cover in that area. To clarify...a Noncdi or basic cdi for an 8 will NOT fit into a 9's valve cover..the 9 will however fit the 8

I currently have the PRO CDI 12 channel on an Evo 8 JDM MR. Would I need to purchase the whole setup you put the link to or is it just the CDI box that needs to be changed?
