to each their own I say, some people prefer to go fast with class (myself included) but you can't deny how much faster a "drag" car will go with weight reduction. This is a drag car so I don't see a problem with it.

I wouldn't call it cutting up to save weight. All the metal in the rear that was cut out will be replaced with sheet metal, and we had to add square stock for bracing in the rear, mounting points for the fuel cell, and parachute mount. For a parachute mount you need something solid, and the square "frame" we added to the rear will be that solid mount. In my opinion we probably ended up breaking even in the rear. The most weight savings that will be on this car will be the stock gas tank.

As far as the front of the car goes, we added dom tubing for a lower core support to make room for the 5" intercooler and top mount manifold. We had to move the radiator forward a couple inches to get the clearance for the massive turbo.

I wouldn't call it "weight savings" or "cutting up", it was more or less "making room for power" hahahha.

I'll see if we can weigh what we cut off today and see how much we actually saved or added.

The motor is in and wired, some final work in the bay, and to finish up on our fuel cell. It will be running any time now.

Because the Magnus v5 is by far superior to the Rev manifold. They wanted max hp and the Magnus, imo, is the best intake manifold on the market

I mostly agree with Evodave about all the cutting up. Im sure some of it is necessary but i also think it would have been a better investment to make a Drag car that has 95% of your bolt on parts and less custom fab. Im not trying to stur up any conflict in any way as i am a MAP fan myself. I am sure there is a reason for all this fab. work with the intended power+speed goals.
Great job though guys!

We almost forgot about our good friends at Fidanza, who supplied us with this beautiful set of Fidanza cam gears. Thanks Shawn!

At some point the additional plenum volume of an aftermarket intake manifold, like the Magnus V5 we're utilizing in this build, is going to make a significant increase in top end performance. The larger plenum will likely result in loss of spool and low end torque, but for this particular application those considerations are the least of our concerns

Haha I know that...I just wanted to see them say it...I have the Rev 3 on my car & love it...I just thought it was weird thy used the magnus on their car & the Rev 3 on their customers 800whp+ stock Ecu car...I guess that was the customers choice...
