CBRD- Crank Case vent SOLUTION-

We have been continuing to develop parts and solutions for the evo 8/9/x platform. What we have found (as many have) as that there isnt the most effective crank case vent system on these cars- as the oil return orifices from the head back into the case also have to vent crank case pressure-

We arent huge fans of modifying the valve cover- due to many issues with people not cleaning them- or doing so properly etc- so we wanted a simple solution to vent from the case on assemblies done here and elsewhere-

Here is what we've been tinkering with- (we used a rougher version of this before)-

This doesnt work with cars with the rear balance shaft (we always keep the front- but machine it down)-

We are venting through a -12 line from the rear upper portion of the Oil Pump Cover with a press in assembly- that then vents to its own dedicated breather- then we run the dual 3/8" (more or less -6) on the valve covers to their own-

More information coming-

But just a little tidbit-

Great news. I'm having trouble venting the crankcase with as low as 1.4bar boost. Right now my PCV system is blocked to avoid pressurizing the crankcase and my tuner installer thicker orings on the dipstick to lock it in place.

We have seen SOOOOOOO many variables in the breather systems on these cars... motors... conditions...etc....

English has a larger oil pump gear to change some of the characteristics in the oiling system- which is a unique idea- that addresses some aspects.....

This was meant to be something we can install here on our builds, customer builds, to get a nice -12 dedicated vent off of the case-

We shared the idea with some respected people in the industry- and they encouraged us to make it available to others as well-

God idea, but why do you need separate catch cans for the head/bottom end if it's a vented catch can? or are you just using a breather (filter) on the end of this and a seperate one on the head for simplicity?

You can combine them- if you like- but we like to run things independent depending on where we can mount them on each car!!

This would be a great solution.. I have my car vented in the same spot but unfortunately I couldn't fit or position a -12 fitting pointing upwards and miss the timing belt so I had to point it down and I get a substantial amount of oil stuck in my line, which I hate. I will definitely buy the finished product of this when it is released. Do you have an ETA for a finished product?

Im sure someone will copy it before then LOL!

we are also playing with a pressure relief type valve and drain in one-

I'll bring my car home by november for some minor maintenance and to install a definitive vent solution. If there is a kit avaliable by that time then I might consider it!

I was going to connect the two vent ports of the valve cover and the lower plug used to lock the right balance shaft to a manifold-ish thing, then to a small catch can and then to the intake pipe after the air filter. I would block the manifold PCV port. Metering air is not a issue as I'm running a standalone ECU without MAF.

this location is up quite a bit higher than the balance shaft phase checking plug-

let us know- we will have some sorted shortly just a matter of testing in some differing environments (again doing 3 right now) and confirming its what we wanted overall!

cheers

Can you still put the timing belt cover on the car with that?

Looks like you trim the timing cover to fit?

I assume you weld a -12AN male fitting onto the end of the pipe?
