BLOX Front Engine Roll Stopper
Had time this afternoon to install the engine roll stopper and here is my intital thought:
Install was OK. The biggest problem was that the rear most cross-member bolt (the one towards the back of the car) does not line up. After reading through the Blox posts, this seems to be fairly common.
I stripped some of the threads on the aforesaid bolt but was able to use some muscle to push the crossmember forward enough to tighten the bolt.
I didn't have a chance to drive the car yet but tomorrow I'll have a chance to test it out.
My only snafu besides the above bolt issue was that I forgot to install one of the washers on the Blox; I must have dropped it and forgot.
It still has the lock washer though.
HERE'S THE MITSU RECOMMENDED TORQUE SPECS:
1. (1) Engine roll stopper thru bolt & nut: 39 + - 5 ft-lbs.
2. (2) Engine roll stopper bolts to cross-member: 34 + - 3 ft-lbs.
3. (2) Cross member bolts at the front: 51 + - 7 ft-lbs.
4. (1) Cross member bolt at the rear: 51 + - 7 ft-lbs.
5. (3) Bolts for the brace that runs across the downpipe: 37 + - 7 ft-lbs.

I drove the car a good 25-30 miles with the Blox Engine Roll Stopper in place and here's my review:
1. I noticed a much different engine startup noise from inside the cabin.
2. There was slightly more vibration in the clutch pedal; definetly noticable but not detrimental.
3. Noticed a slight vibration in the gas pedal when accelerating.
4. Didn't notice any great benefit in shift feel (still a little notchy like the day I got the car)
Note that none of the above negative points were at all serious; just observations I noticed.
5. There is much less jerking when lifting off the clutch on upshifts. This is very apparent in quick spirited upshifts.
6. Here is what I felt was the biggest difference: Downshifting.
Similar to the upshift scenario above...........I tried some different downshift scenarios like downshifting to pass a slower vehicle and downshifiting in anticipation of a uncoming curve and lifting off the clutch after rev-matching there was little to no jerking involved.
Overall I think the Blox is a very worthy purchase for the mere fact that it makes spirited driving much smoother

I installed mine today also and it was as easy as removing the cross member and swapping the mounts out. As others have stated there is increased vibration at idle and a definite improvement in fast shifting.
to a great product at a good price.
i have the ams front motor mount, have any of you guys, drove, or had both on you car???
im thinking about ditching mine, the damn thing rattles my whole car so bad sometimes, and its just getting annoying for daily driving
is this one softer than the ams?
thanks

I dont usually post feedback like this but I felt compelled because you never see a part for under $100 bucks do so many things. (mitsu bean counters can lick my b*lls)
I just ordered my mount from speedelement through their website and it shipped in good time. As far as installation went, taking off the undertray was a PIA as usual. About an hour total for me and I work slow.
Car started up minutely quicker with a louder starter noise that everyone else has reported. Drove to the gas station and noticed slightly more vibration on top of my hks 272s. Now I have my cams set at -3/-3 and there is a vacuum issue. Sometimes when I'm not paying attention to the rpm, my car bogs a little and the engine shakes. After installing the mount, I feel engine vibration enter the cabin but the car boggs less. I'm trying to figure out why...but Im not complaining
I wasn't expecting it but throttle response has also improved. I read that it would but I took it with a grain of salt. Another perk is that the engine also sounds better at full throttle. It sounds...more crisp...? I thought I was driving a turbo vtec lol. (honda owners with headers will know what sound Im talking about
) Probably just my imagination.
Now as for the reason why I bought this mount in the first place was in hopes of lessening engine movement on a high rpm gear change from first to second. Problem solved on that end. Second gear has a more predictable engagement. This is on top of a b & m short shifter and all metal bushings.
I didn't get a chance to install it till this evening after spending and hour in traffic. The reason I mention traffic is that the evo always pissed me off in it. Whenever I let off the accelerator in gear, the whole car just jutters. The jutter is gone. Its something I never liked about the evo.
oh, btw, my car has about 23k of moderate use so my stock mount has not deteriorated. When I took the stock one out, it was soft. I could dent it a little when I pushed on it with my finger.
I dont know how long this mount will last or how it compares to the power flex replacement bushings ( believe the powerflex is slightly softer). But for $87 (what I paid) shipped, I now have a working spare if the bushing ever fails on the blox. (I'd probably just buy another one, tho..)
Thanks speed element.

I purchased mine from speedelement too and once again, Cal hooked it up. when i removed the stock mount and replaced it with the Blox, it didnt line up perfectly with the tranny. All i did was stick a screw driver through the tranny mount to help align the blox mount so that i can insert the screw from the opposite end...problem solved. otherwise, the car is noticeably more responsive between shifts and the crunch i get from 1-2 has been somewhat minimized. crunch was observed from day 1 off the dealer lot. downside is a higher frequency of vibration through the cabin. but what do you expect, its not a luxury car. also, noise from the transfer case seems to be more noticeable after the install, especially between shifts and letting off in 5th.
Another ++++ review. Got the blox installed. Same findings as everyone else. Slight pick up of vibration...but the shifts feel more crisp. The engine sounds more tuned....it's hard to describe, but it sounds better. Also, downshifts are much more smooth. Install is 20 minutes tops.
A+ product! thanks speed element.

I just installed mine and went for a quick drive. I agree with all who described a different tone from the engine. It sounds great under load and I agree it is a more "tuned" sound.
Also, I can't believe my 1st - 2nd gear "crunch" is now gone. I have had that crunch since I bought the car new. I can say I do not miss it one bit! Overall shifting has a better feel, and I do not mind the added vibration in the cabin.
Awesome product at an awesome price!
