CBRD does it again!

Let me start by saying "Thank you" and OMG! to Chad Block and the staff at CBRD.

I took my 06 EVO IX MR up there last year for a dyno tune. I had a manual boost controller, Buschur race exhaust, K&N drop in filter, Cam gears and an HKS exhaust cam.

Chad was able to get 294whp and 279wtrq set at 23 lbs of boost. He told me that my car put down some good numbers for the mods and was a strong motor.

The car ran great at the track and turned some good lap times. I did however see some higher than normal temperatures while on the track. They got close to the max temp of the head. This caused me to think about the damage that may be caused if I were to overheat.

I decided to install some mods that would allow me to keep the car cooler. I researched the boards and chose a Buschur FMIC (street core), and a Perrin Intake. I was talking with some of the more experienced members about the mods I have chosen and they gave me more advice.

They advised me that it would be better to do some other mods at the same time because of the need for a dyno tune after any mods. So I figured instead of doing the mods this year and paying for a tune and then doing more mods next year and paying again for a tune. I decided to add a few more mods so I would save another tune next year.

I chose to add the GSC S1 cams and the Perrin ECU boost controller along with the Buschur FMIC (street core) and the Perrin Intake.

CBRD took the car right in and began installing the Perrrin Intake and the Perrin boost controller. I had the GSC S1 cams and the Buschur FMIC installed at a different location. They checked the car out and discovered the Throttle body seals were leaking and needed replacing. They also found a leak in the intercooler piping.

They fixed the leaks, replaced the seals and then they moved to the dyno for the tune.

Chad spent about 2 hours tuning the car and when he was done I could not believe the numbers. Chad finished tuning and obtained 349whp and 314wtrq at 22 lbs of boost. AWESOME!

In conclusion:
Started with 294whp and 279wtrq at 23 lbs of boost
added GSC S1, Buschur FMIC, Perrin Intake and Perrin Boost Controller
Finished with 349whp and 314wtrq at 22 lbs of boost

INCREASE was 55whp and 35wtrq Chad was able to accomplish this safely and he used less boost to get much higher numbers.

I am giving Chad permission to post the dyno graph to show the new dyno overlayed the old dyno. I averaged an increase of 40whp and 40wtrq overall.

Great job!

Adam

Thanks!

I was amazed at the gains from a few mods. My old porsche would cost me 15K to get 20hp.

Much better this way and faster!

Very nice improvements, can't go wrong with the guys up at CBRD. I am almost as OCD as Chad when it comes to working on cars and would gladly trust them to wrench/tune my Evo.

sounds like you had massive boost leaks beforehand and closing it up helped with the huge gains

boost level

I think you are asking about the boost level. If I understood Chad correctly, he showed me the Dyno graph and pointed out that the boost was at 23 on the last tune and this tune was set at 22. I will try to scan the graph and post it for everyone to see.

Chad has experience with putting these graphs on so I hope he beats me to it.

Thats damn good numbers for that dyno at only 22psi. Car def has more in it with some added boost/tuning if you decide to go that route down the line.

Tuning

Chad did say that he was running more boost on other cars. He also recommended that the tune be conservative due to my multiple days on the track.

I run the car pretty hard on the track! I am ok with a conservative tune. The HP was a great addition to the car but I do not depend on it for the track. I rely on the Motons and the Stoptechs for bettering my lap times.

We will know soon enough because my track schedule is set!

this car is pretty badass!

of course, I was hoping adam would use the CBRD fmic and some other bits, but I never have a problem making power on BR parts haha!

The car was at 23.2 psi tapering to 22psi at redline... conservative road race tune.... we run quite a few HARD driven weekend track cars at 26+ psi on pump.... many with OVER 40,000 miles on the stock blocks...

Ill get a plot posted for Adam shortly (when im back in the office)

I would love to get a CBRD Radiator, BBK, and some injectors in this beast!

CBRD Dyno Sheet

Thanks for posting my Dyno sheet Chad. Hopefully you will be able to get through the snow.

I am sure the other mods you speak of would improve my HP in an amazing way.

I am happy with what I have for now! At least until I get smoked by another vehicle that is driven on the street, can be taken on a 2 person weekend trip, carry 2 sets of golf clubs, has a Yakima bike rack with 2 bikes, can be driven by my wife and gets 22mpg.

Thanks,
Adam
