Poor experience with CarID
Poor experience with CarID
Not a bashing thread - just an honest description of what happened.
I purchased a VRS style Carbon Creations front lip off of CarID last Thursday night AFTER CONFIRMING with a sales rep that they were in stock.
Friday, I call up at like 5PM to see if it went out (They told me it would go out the next day, and that's what their website said on my esitmated ship date). It now said Monday. I called up, and verified once again that it was in stock and she said yes 100% for sure in stock in their California warehouse, and will go out today (Monday), but missed the cut off on Friday. No problem, I said. I verified that these were SHIPPED by CarID, NOT DROPSHIPPED. Today, I look on the order form and it says Estimated Ship date - tomorrow. ??? I called once again today and got the SAME response. So, I asked to speak to a manager. Manager said she would call the manufacturer of the item to check availability (Wait, what?). She said it was out of stock until end of April and that I need to wait until then to receive the lip.
I said this was out of the question and I wont wait two months. After bickering for a few minutes, they agreed to put in a "cancel order request".
The worst thing is, their website says IN STOCK. Nothing is mentioned about it being a "special order", and their workers are taught to tell you it's in stock.
I am now going to a trusted vendor, MAPerformance from now on!
/Rant.
EDIT - Just placed an order with Ian from MAP for an another splitter. What a stand-up dude and stand-up place. He was polite, knowledgeable and no BS. They have earned my business 100%

This issue has come up several times before. Whether a drop-shipper should be allowed to say "in stock" when they don't have the item in hand is a very touchy issue in the internet age. It seems that you did everything correctly - as in: asking clearly if it was actually in hand - but still got (what can most charitably referred to as) the run-around. I'm glad that it only cost you a week. It could have been worse.
I remember the first time that I visited SlowBoy Racing, about 15 years ago. No, it wasn't a dorm-room. It was the Huml's living room, instead.
ps. I moved your thread to correct location

I'm just disappointed that I asked multiple times about stock - and it was always the same line.
I feel as if they should say - "directly drop shipped from MFG" - call for availability.
But, hey. I just don't want other people falling to what I did.
