ETS 3.5 Intercooler

Thought I would share my experience.

I was looking for an intercooler upgrade and contacted ETS. There response was very fast and I got a quote for the 3.5" intercooler shipped. It was a very nice price that really can not be beaten.

It took about a week or so for me to receive the part. This intercooler looks awesome. I don't think there is another intercooler that looks as good. The welds were very nicely done. I did not get an anodized one.

I just installed it yesterday evening. The install was pretty straight forward. I you can do the normal maintenance on any car, this will be cake. I changed some bulbs out meanwhile I was there. From start to finish it took me about 2.5 hours. The only thing i noticed is that the 3.5" intercooler is supposed to be a direct replacement but when i was putting back on my bumper I had to remove the front grill because the intercooler is too wide for the grill bracket. I am currently running this now with no front grill which I don't mind. (please share if you guys know a method to have the grill installed to make it fit.) Also, the bumper support brackets on the beam needed to be bent so it would allow the beam to be mounted back on correctly.

After the install, I took it out for a drive. It was dark out So i didn't really push it but first thing i noticed was the boost comes on just a bit different. I can't really explain it but it is just a little different.

Today, I got to take it out for a good test drive. idling and cruising the AFR's are the same. At WOT, im now hitting slightly lower AFR's. On my current tune before the IC install, i would hit 10.8 AFR WOT. Now, it is 10.2 AFR which I know is rich (conservative tune). Either way, I feel that my power is gained up top towards the higher RPM's. Boost seems much smoother between shifts and holds a little better. I just feels like it pulls harder.

I am happy with this product and recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade. It is well worth it. Thumbs up to the ETS team . Thanks for reading.

UPDATE:

Today on my way to the gas station, I did a few pulls just to look at my AFR's once more. I was hitting 11.2 in 3rd and 4th WOT. It is leaner which can relate to why I feel the car pulling harder. Boost was hitting 26 psi which is 1 psi up from before. I will probably get it re-tuned sometime in the near future do to that I am still on a 91 octane map and I now have 93 octane available. Might even go a little more aggressive. This more power to be made. Still, I am very happy with how the intercooler looks and how it is performing.

Agreed. It is a quality product. I have had mine for 6 years and have never had a single issue with it. It will also flow well enough that you will never need to upgrade.

bought the same part. if i remember correct the only thing i had trouble with was the outlet seemed a little short and the lower mounting points where the stock rubber washer was supposed to be replaced was a tight fit. other than that the part is snug lol. great quality. for the outlet i just had to make sure i gave it as much slack so that i could put my couplers on the right way
