Maperformance:
Last month I went a little bat crap crazy and dropped quite a bit on MODS. I really wanted to thank Maperformance for pretty much as perfect as you can get service. Drew was great and unfortunately when I called the other day they said he no longer works there. I felt lost for a second. Lol I ordered thousands through him and he was always available to answer my questions.
MAP is always the first place I call, even if they don't show the product on their website or their price is higher on the product. They will beat the other venders price and many times they can get products not showing on their site.
When I was looking at turbos I looked at many of the "big named" places discussed in the forums but decided to go with the EF3 (should be here by next week) based 100% on MAPs customer service in other areas.
They always update me when a part is shipped and I'm not forced to try and get ahold of somebody to find out where it is.
They just don't mess up very often.
Move Over Racing
I ordered front and rear tow hooks as well as their quick release bumper kit. Good guys to work with. Tow hooks got a little delayed and I didn't get the update because they emailed it to somebody with the same name but the quick release was here quick. Over all great products.
Kaizen
I ordered the Aeromotions wing from them. Price was good and shipping was decently quick.
Evasive Motorsports
They are local to me. About 20 miles away. They have been great as well. Bought a laptimer, lug nuts, planted seat bases and a few other items. A few things I didn't like and the return process was a piece of cake.
HMS Motorsports
I only order 2 sets of Schroth Profi II harnesses from them. Shipping was fast. One of the harnesses was missing a sewn in part on the lap belt and they just sent me a new lap belt no questions asked.
CBRD
Chad was great. Ordered Ohlins from him with 10k front and 12k rears with the rears revalved. He kept me up to date and even sent me a photo of them being put together.
DSG
HMMM this is where a review gets tricky. I know they are well known on the forums and
others have had a good experience with them but mine wasn't so great it may have just come down to not setting my expectations correctly. Jason was great though.
I went through phases where I wanted to blast them then I calmed down then wanted to blast them. I wrote a bunch but decided to delete it. Let's just say they didn't live up to my expectations or maybe MAP just sets the bar too high and I was spoiled ordering so much from them with no issues.
I guess instead of being all negative here I will "vote with my money" I think the term is and go elsewhere for the Varis parts.
I think that covers everything. Some of these other places I mentioned might be as good as MAP it's just I didn't have the opportunity to order much from them. Map has just proven to me they are great because of the amount of different orderes I made with no problems. That's hard to find in a company.

Hate to follow a good review with a bad review, but here is my complaint with the BBB against MAP
I bought a set of CP pistons SC7245 for 4g63 Evo 8 motor and was sent the wrong pistons.
I purchased a set of SC7245 for a 2.2 long rod build, but got a set of sc7217 pistons. It took a while to receive the pistons, because I had issues with the people who coated them. After, getting them from the coater, I had issues with my machine shop being back up. I finally got them 7 months later and tried to install them and realized I got the wrong pistons. I then contacted Modern Automotive Performance where I purchased the pistons from and here is their response for my issue.
I am sorry for the delay, I have been on the phone with my rep at CP trying to figure out a solution. At this point they believe that the pistons that were in the box were part number SC7217 which is the same piston just for an Evo. I have put some pressure on them to try and get them to take them back but unfortunately they are adamant on the fact that these pistons can not be returned. As with any product once someone has modified it or installed it, it is no longer a resell able or replaceable part.
Due to the timeframe, installation and the fact the pistons have been modified we wouldn't be able to take them back. I don't have any SC7245's here that I could ship out but I have found a few in stock with one of my suppliers. He cut us a deal below our cost that I will simply pass directly to you if you would like to purchase a new set. Their cost they extended was $430.00. I will also cover any of the shipping charges that will be incurred to ship them out to you so that won't be a factor.
I am extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please let me know which direction you would like to go in and if you have any questions.
In conclusion, they want me to pay for another set piston when they sent me the wrong ones? I just want the right product, so I can finish my engine. They are blaming the piston company instead of being responsible for the product they sold me. Any good company will send out the right product and deal with their vender on their own time.

I don't mean to be insulting, as I can understand the frustration on your end, however what they told you makes more than enough sense. The product is no longer in new or like new condition in which you received them as. To expect a company to completely exchange a purchase, in which you state was many months ago(7+), is pretty wishful thinking.Originally Posted by bryonboals

The only thing I would argue in your defense with is what the invoice specifically stated. If the invoice lists something different than what you received, then yes I'd expect perhaps they eat a bit more of the costs. However, most vendors, stores and really anyone outside of REI and Costco expect returns to be done within 30-90 days since the time purchased. Just because you ran into problems with your machine shop does not make that anyone elses problem but your own + that shop. To file an annoying BBB complaint especially when there are mistakes you also made seems ridiculous.
Honestly, you're better off selling what you have and taking the discounted price offered to you.
Either way good luck to you.

THEY SENT ME WRONG PISTONS and this is the argument and yes the invoice specifically stated the pistons I was suppose to receive are sc7245 and I received sc7217. Even if they send me right pistons I got money in the coating in which they will not reimburse. So even though this is all because they sent me wrong piston I AM OUT $380 FOR COATING & WORK DONE TO PISTONS. I am the one who gets bad end of the deal.

Maybe next time you will pay attention to detail instead of rushing to get stuff done. YOU always verify part numbers when you recieve parts and a invoice that was YOUR fault for not verifying the correct parts. As has been said before yes they may have sent you the wrong pistons but if you had been paying ATTENTION you would have realized that and sent them back.
At this point your just as responsible because you did not check your parts before sending them off. Should always check and double check your invoice before you start tearing into the parts that way you verify you got EXACTLY what you ordered.

Are you going to post this in every MAP thread you find? The FIRST thing anyone should do when they receive an item is inspect it. Make sure it's the right item, look for defects, etc. etc. I'm sure it's happened to all of us at one time or another. I've had it happen at local dealerships and parts stores. I've NEVER had a problem returning anything. Even "special order/no return" items that they sold me in error. Why? Because it was their fault, and I caught it BEFORE trying to install it and or modify it. That's the only thing they ask... Original packaging, not installed, not modified in any way, and in some cases not taken out of original packaging (electrical parts mostly).
That being said, MAP's response was very reasonable/professional. I've ordered from them multiple times and they have been nothing short of spectacular.

I would like to add when you purchase pistons and they offer in house coating. Do they send the pistons to you to do your due diligence or do they coat then send them. Hum mm. When I purchased I had them send it to coater. Not once did they say you might want to do your DUE DILIGENCE before we send them to your coater. Only now did they say you might want to see if it fit before you coat it. I just told them I will have my coaters measure them before they coat them.
No one said that they weren't professional, but this is about customer service. I just thought people should know my experience.
So, if you had good experience with MAP then I am happy for you, but as for me I did not get that. I would like to let people know" My Story"

I just realized I am throwing CP Pistons under the bus. This was not my intention I am just quoting what MAP reps told me. Just copy and paste word for word.

Not to drag this out but... Now I understand. Your first post wasn't clear. If you're saying they drop shipped the wrong pistons to the coater... I do see your point. Mistakes happen. The issue was the time frame. Obviously that didn't help. Too much time passed. At least they did try to do something for you. Now I know where your comming from though
