There are a few of those Audi sport coupes over here I think they had a few with close to the good engine, I don't think any of the SWB ones though...
We have had a few (5) Of the old 5cyl Audis... Great cars... We had a 200 20v TQ with more than a few of the RS2 Mods on it.... That car was FAST!! But too big... I dreamed of putting one of those motors in my old 80..... Still want to do it one day... mmmmmmm......

Ah yes, Cimb Dance. I still believe that's the best racing short ever produced. In 5 short minutes, it's undeniably clear why most of us don't have the cajones to drive a rally (or hill climb!) car...

Thanks for those pics
Where has all of the crazyness gone? I mean, the current rally cars are undeniably fast and efficient at what they do, but look at these cars Imyurtur found. They are just beautiful in their innovation and in the lengths that their designers went to in order to get ahead. I love the crazy stuff, you just do not see it any more. Those are some great finds though, if I win the lottery in the next few weeks I be sure to post some pics of my RS200!
Disappeared with Group B mate... Also I think rally cars were relatively simple and cheap back then... Made getting an advantage easier, also I guess they have tried to slow the cars down (read slow down the rate they get faster each year) for safety sake.... I'd be surprised if any of the killer B's could keep up with a modern day WRC car... (Based on no actually knowledge, just a hunch). Actually, the only evidence I have is the time top gear raced an Audi Sport Coupe (Tiff Needel) against an Evo 6 (Vicki Butler Hendrson)... The sport coupe got OWNED!!!
I'd still take the sport coupe any day, that motor has at least as much potential as a 4G63, and the car is a piece of rallying history!!!

A Gruppe B Audi Turbo Quattro Coupe would hand a WRC Evo its ***. Maybe not in handling, but the Gruppe B cars had NO restrictors whatsoever. The motors usually only lasted a race, if that, and at 1200+ horsepower in their heyday, I'm not surprised.
The homologation Sport Quattros were nice and all, but not representative of the craziness at the peak of the Gruppe B insanity.

Yes, but I actually meant (although didn't say it) at what the WRC car is good at, meaning loose surfaced rally stage.. I would be surprised if it could keep up. I wonder what the acceleration numbers are like comparing an old group B car to a modern WRC car on a loose surface... I it's very close even if the WRC car wouldn't edge it at the relatively low speeds seen on a rally stage.

I thought it looked like the Imperial Palace car exhibition area/room. Guess I was right. Unfortunately when I was there, they were trying to sell (among other things) a 1976 Cadillac owned by Elvis. No rally cars
