lifter noise when engine cold? 264/272 cams

I get lifter "tick" noise when the engine is cold w/HKS 264/272 cams. The noise goes away when engine warms up.

Cams were professionally installed, used assembly lube, torqued to specs, etc. We noticed the lifter noise from 1st start up, also noticed it goes away when engine warms up.

Is this normal? Anyone else with this symptom?

I'm not sure if you saw this, but here is a similar thread.

Yes thanks, I posted on that thread too, it was kind of dead. I wanted to get feedback from the stage 1+ guys. A poll in this forum has 26 persons with cams.

same here. I am going to see about bleeding them to get rid of the noise (section 11A-15 of the Evo service manual).

Same here...been that way since day one. Talk to Darkhorse (I think that's his name) he recomends doing a valve job too because of the increased lift and poor seating (If I remember correctly). He has had some really good turnouts from what I know of...but I don't frequent the boards as much as I used to

Mine started clacking like a typewriter last night when I first started it and the temps were cold.
Then I figured it was the hydraulic adjusters after reading these threads.

Same here... 272s, professionally installed, assembly lube, torqued properly. Everything I've read says this is normal, so I'm not worried

Its common i had the same thing. The DSM's had it for ever. Mitsu said that they redesigned the lifters but it still happens. When i rebuilt my engine i clean the lifters out with diesal and you wouldnt believe what came out. NASTY! Anyway got them all clean and now they are quiet once agian.
