stage question

hi... ive had my evo for a few months now and i love it.. fast ...responsive and i dont really think ive been in a more race ready car. it has more preformance then i would ever really need... but for some odd reason i want more. so ive noticed that vishnu seems to be the best around... i was just wondering if i should go with a stage by stage upgrade rather then just buying strage one and installing it in. second questions is can i use other parts and have the xede be flashed to read them better? such as the works water spray and an upgraded innercooler.. slo a differnet exaust like the hks carbon ti ... ok thank you

Personally I went the staged upgrade route (stage 1 signature, then upped to stage 1+ by adding cams).

In a nutshell, stage 1 consists of cam gears, a 3" exhaust, and the XEDE. If you want to get different cam gears and someone elses 3" exhaust, it's not a problem at all. The XEDE is very customizable and people are running virtually any combination of bolt-ons with their XEDEs. If you live anywhere near Vishnu, then get custom tuned by Shiv, otherwise get a setup that mimics the staged upgrades and use the downloadable XEDE maps. Lastly, unless you're going to the racetrack (road racing), the stock IC is pretty darn good. IMO I'd get cams before I'd do the IC.

Since you're new, you should probably spend some time thinking about the warranty implications of modding your car. Some things definitely affect warranty work, some don't, and some are in a grey area. Unless you have specified goals, the main reason to jump in and buy everything at once is to say tuning time/money.

I just finished writing a review of David Vespremi's "Car Hacks and Mods for Dummies". In short, it's a pretty good read if you're new to autowork. It's definitely not a manual for upgrading the evo, but it'll do a good job of getting you primed and ready to do your own research. You can get a copy for like 15 bucks from amazon.

For future posts you might want to update your profile with your location. Don't be surprised if people near your people in your general area jump out to help.
