It is hard to imagine that it is still in balance and compressing well. I know it can be repaired but I would turn this situation around and put in a Ti fan.

hehe nah. We just blend the blades on our jet engines here when they're nicked, dented, etc... Unless they're extremely out of limits. Figure it shouldnt be much different w/ those small compresser fins. Better to blend them than leave them mangled. There again, even better to just replace the whole darn thing

The trouble with going bigger is the cost doubles compared to a replacement TME

Andrew, I just noticed your title on the poll and thread are conflicting! LOL you got me there!
I voted no to the re-use then the title on the poll says "would you replace this turbo"

I said it was for fun.....congrats on being the first one to notice...I can conclude that people go by the last thing they read not the title of the thread

I woudn't use it. And I've been known to re-use some pretty questionable stuff

I voted properly, to cut that beocth in half and make some kind of cool shop ash tray or tip jar out of it. But with Andrew's customer service, I'm sure he'd need a much bigger turbo for tips....

Serious question: How would hard bucking due to an overly tight BOV damage the turbo?

Compressor stall isn't a good thing, I can't think the sudden change in load and direction probably wreaks havoc on the vanes, center shaft, etc etc.

I don’t know (I might be wrong) but as I see from the pic that the external fins are only damaged (slightly) I always thought that the inner fins matter the most since they are bigger. I am sure some HP will be lost as well as spool but nothing major. Don’t you think?

That that thing is toast - or at least it wouldn't see the inside of my engine bay again. I'd also be mighty currious about what happend to the missing bits - I'd hate to think of those crunchy flakes hiding in my intercooler waiting for a chance to make the trip to my combustion chambers, lol.

These tinny bits wont hurt the engine as they will be thrown out side the engine from the exhaust side in 1 sec.... I am sure that happened over time so its not like a big chunk going into the engine at one time.
