Shiv, et al, remind me again how the hoses are supposed to be hooked up....

I recently did the install of everything in my sig and am only seeing ~15psi of boost. I talked to Shiv today and he told me to check the hoses and make sure that one had a restrictor pill in it, I forgot which one though. The current setup looks like this

Waste Gate Actuator (gold can off turbo) = left side of "T"
to the solenoid under the airbox (this one has no pill in it due to the XEDE) = right side of "T"
Down to the lower IC hose (I think) = bottom of "T"

I know I know, horrible description, but maybe you can figure it out. I can barely get my hand down there let alone feel for a restrictor pill in one of the hoses, but based on the way mine is setup does that look right? I'll confirm which hose has the restrictor in it tomorrow, I'm hoping all I'll have to do is swap those hoses and my problems are over.....

Thanks,
Sam

The restrictor should be in the hose that goes between the "T" and the lower IC hose (boost source). Chances are that you'll find the restictor on the other end of the "T" (between the "T" and the gold wastegate actuator). Pretty common mistake when replacing turbos to get the lines reversed. That will cause boost to fall to mechnical wastegate setting regardless of what you have in your boost table.

Cheers

I guess what I was looking for was a short cut answer to where the hoses were supposed to go from the T, before I stuck my hand down there and started feeling up my hose.

In other words, should the hose off the left side of the T or the bottom of it attach to the lower IC hose? Either way I'll swap them tomorrow and hope for more boost.

Thanks Shiv.

Shiv,
I checked the hoses today and found that the pill is indeed in the hose that goes from the T to the IC pipe. So, I disconnected the hose from the gold can thing and took it for a test drive fully expecting to see too much boost and ready to pull my foot off the gas quickly. I got 20psi. A couple times I got 21psi, but it always tapered down to about 17-18. This is at WOT, any gear.

So now what? Do I really need to shorten the waste gate actuator rod? That will suck as the heat shield won't come out of the car with the O2 sensor still in the housing. Plus, with the radiator in the way I don't know that I'll even have enough room to work without taking the turbo back out entirely.

Any new tips?

Thanks,
Sam
