which one is better and which would u prefer.
05' gsr and its going to be daily driver, flash and exhaust may be only mods so far. mostly looking for everyday driving. no crazy performance.

Well what I tell people is that a flash is what most people really need. To clarify the HP gains and the parameters available are adequate to gain very good results on pumpgas. Most people say they are going to use lotsa racegas but I have a feeling they really dont and just want the toy with lotsa bells and whistles and the the feeling of being able to switch maps.

Xflash pros: Total turnkey, simplicity, insignificant pump gas HP difference
cons: dont have any hardware to sell to someone else later on, no race
gas maps, dealer detectable (if they really really prodded)

Xede pros: dual maps, lotsa current and future updates, the ability to control meth
injection (3D), high resale value, plug and play, no downtime
cons: twice the cost, requires a bit of end user responsibility on install,
updates, loading, ect.

I just want to clarify something, not tryin to hijack the thread, I plan on running an Xede with a Stage1+
come emissions time...what do I do to pass emissions?
do I just unplug it?
Im going to be running the 272's w/ cam gears also
inspection in PA where I live so far is just visual and I believe they will be doing the OBD-II thing come time when I need an inspection

please let me know
Thanks

No need to remove Xede for obdII inspection. Xede does not affect the readiness codes, they all say "pass"

i'm in a similair situation as well with my sti.
i have an xede ordered and on it's way to me.
i had tried utec but was not fond of it's adaptability to temp change on the custom (read$300) tuned map i had. maybe i should have just had more maps loaded @ once and used it from there but that's water under the bridge.

now i am trying to decide if xede or ecutek is the avenue i want to pursue with my goals.
currently i just have i/h/e, pump and suspension stuff. this year i want to add a green or similair turbo, injectors, etc and hopefully be done with that.
unless the ring lands go, and i have to swap in some real pistons

there's not much feedback on xede on subaru boards as utec, accessport and ecutek seem to be the words of the day in the ems forums so i really only have this board to look to for feedback

*edit*
all this is just to hold me over until the IX comes out or i'll scoop up a smokin deal on an 05
