Question for you big turbo guys

I drove a WRX with a fp green turbo on it yesterday. At part throttle it ran fine. At 4000-redline(making boost) it ran fine. If I floored it below 4000rpm it would sputter and buck until 4000rpm. Is the sputtering and bucking during lag normal for a big turbo or is the tune causing that? I think the tune is "less than ideal" (trying to be nice), but this is the only big turbo car i've driven. And I know the green isn't really that big. I don't recall anyone ever posting of this problem with a green+STi or GT35+EVO.

Well engines are big air pumps. The bigger the motor the more air it can move.
On the STI with the 2.5L motor spool will be quicker then on a 2.0. So it will be more enjoyable to drive.

EVOs are a bit diffrent then STI/WRXS because the turbo hangs off about 6in away from the head were on STI/WRXS it almost two feet witch will affect spool and boost more then intercooler piping lenght.

You have a STI so the green would be more driavable then with a 2.0. Also it seems to me that guy needs alot of tuning because even with a large turbo drivablity should not be comprmised if the injectors are tuned out right.

IMHO

It can't be a vishnu tuned car. I have driven meny WRX/STIs/EVOs/MRs and drivablity of a Vishnu tuned cars is 2nd to NONE.

Sounds like the CL-->OL transition hiccup on a UTEC. Just a guess though...

Could we determine that it is a Vishnu car we are talking about?...cause there are plenty of other tuners products out there on cars making them run like ***...nothing new there

No its not a Vishnu car. It has a UTEC and was tuned somewhere in Houston. I've been trying to get him to go to Dyno4mance for some time now. If it was a Vishnu car properly tuned it would run a hell of a lot faster than it is for the money he has in that car. I just wanted to sure that the drivability shouldn't be affected like that. I think Shiv or Andrew could tune circles around the bozos he's had attempt to tune his car. Hopefully this will convince him to make the drive to Georgia sometime later this year.

Thanks for the replys,
Joey

The name doesn't ring a bell, but I may have heard of his car. Has he done anything to the car?

His first steps towards a successful tune would be to ditch the UTEC.
