Xede-ECU case study

Shiv, what are your thoughts on this article?

http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/fa...de_signals.htm

I know its not an EVO or Subaru....but its an Xede. We here obviously know the results and proven effectiveness of the Xede and your tuning, so what happend in this test?

Agreed, interesting. But after 20,000 miles, the Xede seems to be doing just fine in my car. I'd love to know what Lauchlin (sp) at ChipTorque would say about the article as well as Shiv. Obviously they are trying to sell a competing product, but still interesting.

Shame it doesn't tell us what any of the 'problems' are. I have certainly never noticed any running problems in my car with or without the Xede, and I have never heard of major problems with any others.

I have no idea if the evo has this differential CAS, in fact I had never even heard of it before I read this.

But if we assume it does have the differential system, there are a couple of people who claim a misfire CEL that is caused by the Xede. I wonder if this is caused by some electrical noise that is more apparent in some cars.

If it does not use the differential system, then maybe electrical noise is the cause of the phantom P0300 code that has plagued mitsubishi on stock cars.

Interesting, but there are plenty of Evo's getting the P0300 out there without an XEDE

Which I think could be caused if the Evo does not use the differential CAS method, as stated in the last paragraph of my post...

Hmmmm...I wonder if this is something APS have done to discredit the Xede so people will favor the Unichip?
After all......don't they sell the Unichip?
Like Smoggie said, I have had my Xede for nearly 2 years with zero problems..
Maybe Lauchlin or Shiv can comment...

LOL... these "finds" are in response to this bit of testing from 2 years ago:

http://www.vishnutuning.com/cas.htm

APS is the sole distributor of Unichip in Australia. They are also supposedly coming out with their own XEDE competitor-- once they get it working. I wouldn't take anything they have to say to heart. They have been trying to penatrate the US market for years and I wish them the best of luck

Shiv, I also have had zero problems with my xede so I think regardless of these 'findings' there is no noticacble issue with the way the xede replicates the CAS in the Evo.

Can you confirm whether or not the Evo uses this differential signal (like in the ford in the test) or just a single signal.

On a side note (in reference to what I posted above), I was at an ice time trial today with a friend of mine, I have an '03 with an Xede, he has a stock '05. We both got a CEL (I get a CEL about 50% of the time when I enter some kind of 'event'). We haven't had the codes pulled yet, but I'm willing to bet they are both P0300s.
