Shiv, any advantage to MIVEC? tunable?

Hey Shiv,

What do you think of MIVEC addition to the EVO IX? What will it bring to tuning? Will it be intrusive or helpful for the addition of aftermarket cams?

I inquired in person at the So Cal dyno day and Shiv seems to think that it is a good thing and will give the Evo 9 more potential.

I think that the MIVEC will definitely enhance performance with both stock and aftermarket cams. The question I have is whether the oil control valve that actuates the variable cam sprocket is driven by the ECU. If so, I would imagine that the data table could be manipulated to exploit most combinations of camshafts and/or other modifications more effectively than would be possible with just a mechanically actuated control valve.

Either way, it will provide positive performance enhancements.
