04 ECU doesn't work on 05 evo RS Help!

I got 04 ECU and tried on my 05 RS. this 04 ECU was flashed for XEDE use ( no rev limiter). It was all good. My logger communicated with 04 ECU OK. Then, I tried iginition. My engine wouldn't start. It will crank but didn't start up the engine.
I thought all the evo ECU was compatible. Is this becuase of the flash? or You can't exchange ECU? Do you have any experience on ECU swap? Help!

As far as I know you need to have the key matched to the ecu at the dealer.

oh, Thanks! guys
it is just key matching?
then, can I just bring this 04 ECU alone to the dealer? to match my key?
also, would it remove that flash(rev limiter) too?

as far as I know there is no way to have 2 ecu's communicate with the same set of keys. If you were perminantly replacing the 05 ecu yes they can make it match...

eh? It makes me little confused
does it mean it will change my key too?
I thought key code was just stationary in the key. so there is no way to have spare ECU for quck swap?

I did some search. I found a way to swap ECU. You get Mitsubishi diagnostic tool to program ECU to accept every time you swap ECU. But That tool will cost too much I think. Another way of doing it is I need one more imobilizer that will go with my 04 ECU. Then, program it with my keys at the dealer. so you have to swap ECU and imobilizer at the same time. Dang! that is too much!
Anyway, I am glad that this wasn't the flash problem

No no don't do all that.

To clarify this for you just drive over to the dealership, grab one of the parts guys or service guys that are cool. Swap your 04 ecu for 05 in the parking lot, takes 5 minutes make sure you put the bolts in it (ECU has to be bolted to get the ground). He can plug his little key machine into the data port under the steering column and program the o4 ecu to your keys. Make sure you bring both keys, I brought mine but not my wifes, I tried using her key and I had to let the car sit for 10 minutes before I could start it with my key. After he keys both keys to your ECU your good to go. Now remember they are not swapable, I thought I would have 2 handy ECU to swap out when I needed too. A Stock one, and Vishnu X-Flash ecu it don't work that way. Once he keys your ECU to your keys thats the only ecu that will start your car. Not swapable, or you start the process all over. There is a key imobilizer under the dash that looks for the chip in the keys. Hope this helps. I just bought the parts manager luch one day and shot the BS for doing it for me at no charge. They cool like that.

PM me if you have any other questions, I've experimented with all the ECU swapping options.

ACD is controlled by ECU too? or different module controls? like ABS?
