Going from Xede v0.0 (2003) to v3.x (!?)
...Ok, Folks, I have been out for a while, enjoying the Xede since 2003 or early 2004.
I have not done a thing to the custom Stage 1 map, except for a *totally* custom boost map, since I also use an MBC along with the stock solenoid, in order to modulate "global" boost adjustments (via MBC) and "local" micro-adjustments (via Xede).
I feel that, after 18 months , it is now the time for an upgrade. I really never had any idle/stumbling issues, except when the car is a bit cold, and If I immediately roll-out with no warming, I can feel the car losing and/or gaining power (bucking) until it reaches 1/2 of normal operating temp., when the whole thing becomes quiet and sweet
. Idle is rock solid when warm, and rock solid when cold (on warm-up cycle, as long as parked).
I have already seen the cut-the-built-in-wire trick, but:
1. Will this trick be supported in older Xedes (circa Q4 2003)?
2. Will my old Xede support a leap-frogging upgrade to v3.x?
3. Is there any operational / functional benefit with this upgrade, especially when coming from such an old version?
4. What will happen to my existing / medieval maps? Will they be thrashed?
5. If 3=yes, then... Are there any v3.x Stage-1 Maps?
Many thanks to all for your valuable support!

I had an xede with older firmware I believe it was v1. I sent mine in to get updated to v3 and they kindly replaced the whole XEDE unit and upgraded harness. I would call them, that would be the best bet to get the answers you need.
EDIT: Save your maps! When upgrading the firmware it will erase all your maps currently stored. There are Stage 1 maps for v3 all you have to do is convert your maps to v3. Hope this helps, but I would still call them because your hardware might need to be upgraded by Vishnu.

I will definitely give them a call, since I have not been able to find none of the details you mention anywhere.
On your case, did you find any particular improvements (functionally/operationally) with the new firmware?
Thanks for input, though.

Yes I did find some improvements. I was at first experiencing the P0300 code when I installed the XEDE and when I got the upgraded version installed I was throwing no more codes. I notied drivability improved as well as power.
1. Will this trick be supported in older Xedes (circa Q4 2003)? Yes.
2. Will my old Xede support a leap-frogging upgrade to v3.x? If you are refering to the boost controler, then yes.
3. Is there any operational / functional benefit with this upgrade, especially when coming from such an old version? It is much smoother, and incorporates some new features.
4. What will happen to my existing / medieval maps? Will they be thrashed? They will be fine as long as you update them properly.
