MBC needed with XEDE? (22 PSI daily)
MBC needed with XEDE? (22 PSI daily)
Here is what I want to do with my car.
I just purchased a used XEDE and its on a UPS truck right now.
I want to run 22PSI daily. My mods are:
1. XEDE
2. TESTPIPE
3. AFTERMARKET 2.5" MUFFLER
Will I need a MBC to controller to hold this boost?
How do I tune for the stock downpipe can catback piping but with a high flow muffler?
Any idea's or suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks in advance,
JJ

All I was asking is whether or not the XEDE unit controls boost. By the sound of it I dont really need the XEDEFlash if I have a MBC.
The XEDEFlash fills in the two small gaps left by our XEDE engine control computer: the boost and rev limits. It raises both limits to account for higher output applications. We also account for things like larger injectors within the XEDEFlash as well. If you’re an XEDE owner, ask us if the XEDEFlash is right for you.
Here is where I got confused:
The factory ECU programming is very inadequate for stock or modified cars. Once plugged in, the XEDE will yield a 20-50hp gain depending up on application. The XEDE also holds two maps that can be toggled back and forth if desired. Controlling fuel, timing and boost, the XEDE is a complete engine control solution for any application imaginable.
I guess if I want to run 22PSI I need a boost controller.

Why are you so hung up on 22PSI??
The xede controls boost and and puts it where its safely supposed to be. Right around 20 PSI + or - a pound or so.
No need for a MBC and it really has nothing to do with the xedeflash. If you search around and read the Vishnu site it says that the xedeflash mearly removes the top end fuel cut and allows to hold a bit more boost in the midrange, but untile you're at a stage 1+ level its not gonna make that much difference.

I'm not really stuck at 22LBS but my previous car was a GSX that I ran daily at 22PSI with EVO316G. Not one problems in 138K miles! No sense in running 20PSI if I can run 22PSI.
However, if you are telling me that the XEDE alone will hold 20PSI to redline without fuel cut that is great news.

Also the latest Xede has auto tune. Should look into that.

Installed the XEDE last night. I am still running version 2 and I didn't want to dick with the beta code so I left it at that. My subzero car is holding 20 psi to redline now. Nice gain and simple install.
I am going to pull the cat and replace the factory muffler this weekend. Does that qualify me to run the stage zero map?

Can you post your boost table? I just want to compare boost settings.
I'll post the table when I get out of work.....I am slacking off today.....
I wont be installing a complete catback.....just a stright through muffler. All the stock exhaust pipeing is 2.5" from the cat back anyway. I highly doubt I would see much of a gain going to 3". As for the cat.....I am gonna pull that off and stick a testpipe in there. I wont be doing anything with the downpipe. So with no cat and a new muffler (not cat back) do you suggest a stage zero tune?
