Just dropped 2.3 in, need suggestions for changes in Xede map, please.

Well, I just put the 2.3 in and it is running, but I am only letting it idle right now. It is currently being broken in on the stock turbo, but the rabbit is on the way. I have cut the boost in the Xede to 50% as I do not care about boost right now and I have zero'd out the MAF scaling so I guess it is running the stock A/F mixtures. I left the timing alone. Do I need to add gas for now? I am not going to be driving the car exept to get it from my fathers house to mine, and then I am going on vacation from July 1-9th. I am hoping that the SMART software will be out after that, but I am going to attach the 93oct map that Shiv made in March just so you can see where it was. Please give me any suggestions as to changes I should make for the time being. Thanks

How do I post the map on here? It will not let me attach.

Zip it up, then try. I think it limits attachments by file name (extensions).

Congrats on the stroker, sounds like fun.

Joey,
Keep it like it is for the time being until you get a wideband reading on it. Keep the boost low too until you are 1000% sure the motor is tight and sound.

IIRC, you're running larger injectors and the appropriate XEDEFlash (for inj scaling), right?

Yes, the injectors are the Delphi 680's and you did scale the ECU for them. I do not even want to drive the car until it has seen a wideband, so far it has gone around the block just to make sure that everything is good, and it never saw 3000 rpm or even a pound of boost. Would it be safe to drive it like it is to a dyno to read the AFR's, or would I be better off waiting until you release the SMART software/hardware? I am going to be in Florida from the 1st-9th so it can sit until I get back if the SMART equipment will be rolling out around then. I am sure that you can understand my trepidation about all of this, I do not want this thing going south. Do you have any idea what kind of boost the wastegate will allow at 50% across the board? Should I go lower? Thanks for the help.

Keep it as it is Joey...with the reduced boost cylinder pressures will be a lot lower so there will be no need to adjust timing.....

So as long as I keep the boost way down and keep using the stock A/F ratio's it should be good to drive? Here is my problem, I have am going to buy the SMART system, so I do not want to pay to have it tuned before that stuff comes out, but I need to drive the car some just to get miles on it and break it in. I know that the stock program is rich, I hope rich enough to support the extra 15% bump in displacement. If it realyy needs to be done though I will get it on a dyno and check A/F's.

I understand about the bump in displacement.....the evo runs so rich from the factory that this should easily cover the worries you have in open loop....

The extra displacement should be an issue when it comes to open loop fuel control as the MAF is reading just that, MAF. The bigger motor will generate a higher MAF signal at the same RPM and compensate quite well. The biggest determinant of open loop fuel requirements would be headwork, cams, etc,.

If you dont have a wideband right now and want to make sure everything is okay, drop your boost as low as it will go (hopefully not more than 12psi or so) and measure the voltage from your front 02 signal. You can either use a sufficiently good scan tool or a simple voltmeter tapped into the 0-1v signal wire. Under full boost, make sure it goes to at least 0.85 volts (which is richer than 12:1 by more standards). Higher the better (richer). Definately don't want to see full boost 02 voltages any lower than that.
