Exclamation Getting SMART with Methanol

Just finished tuning Turbo Magazine's Project EVO. It is running a SMART XEDE with what is essentially a Stg 1+. It is a 2003 car with the smaller hotside. It also has the stock IC. Still, on 91oct, it made a repeatable 290-295whp.

However, with Methanol injection activated, it made 362whp. The Meth injection is being controlled by the XEDE (which, in essence, is generating a pseudo-MAP signal). But unlike a real MAP sensor, the 0-5v signal is fully 3D mappable as a function of MAF and RPM. It allowed me to be more agressive at higher load/higher RPM without overfueling the engine with meth at lower engine speeds/loads. I'll post up the super SMART maps later this weekend. Along with new associated SMART beta XMAP software

And there will be a $100 credit to the first person to figure out the "logic flow chart" just by looking at the maps. Each map has 7-8 tables. These tables are titled:

Fuel
Timing
SMART Fuel
SMART Timing
SMART Fuel Thresholds
SMART Timing Thresholds
SMART Boost
Methanol Control

Wont be able to figure anything out yet. Need to wait until I post up the maps

Cheers,
Shiv

damn... thats like 30 more whp than i made on race gas with a hotside... This sounds like the ultimate bang for the buck mod. What meth kit was in the car?

Whoanilly. Where, may I ask -- about the same RPM?

I'm still a little awe-stricken that it actually works.

Maps'ses? we don't need no stinkin' Maps'ses. Lemme give it a try without seeing the software:

FUEL
Fuel signal (wideband _and_ MAF) -> Xede Input - > read Fuel map point -> Get SMART -> Fuel threshold -> Adjust against fuel map -> Xede out [edit: ] oh i guess you could technically add injectors in there if those are now supported.

TIMING
CAS + buffered knock -> Xede input - > read cas map point -> Shop Smart, shop S-Mart -> Timing threshold -> adjust timing-> Xede out

BOOST

MAF + Tach -> xede input -> I am so smart, S-M-R-T -> calculate phantom MAP value -> adjust Boost output duty cycle.

METH:

Not really a diagram since there are no inputs. Effective octane is raised thus reducing knock activity and causing everything else to adjust more agressively. Well, not everything. If you want more boost, you still have to crank it up.

EXACTLY what i was about to say.....is this on the VISHNU dyno???? DAMNIT MAN!

What meth kit were you using? If you can repeat this(or close) on andrew's dyno with the smart xede i just might be the happiest dood alive!

Damnit, now i gotta figure out how to come up with some money. Is this something that can be done with the "through the mail" SMART upgrade? I don't know if i, myself, am SMART enough to make that work.....

Oh sorry. It started off life as an AMS kit with a couple of changes to its drive/control system.

So what Alky kit should we buy so that is compatible with the S.M.A.R.T ? and can you post a map for like stage 1+ with S.M.A.R.T and Alky so us that don't have access to a tuner shop can have a starting map for the S.M.A.R.T ?
