ECU learning xede....few questions..
Ok, does the xede make adjustments based on the xede after time? As in, if i dial the fuel down to an 11:2 after some time will it richen back up? Same go for the timing?
If these things happen, if the ECU was flashed underneath the xede.....would the offsets on the xede be based off of the flash fuel curve? and if so, would the ECU think the flash is its "normal" as in, when it starts learning the xede offsets will it only revert back to what it was flashed to do? nothing more(as far as retarding timing or adding fuel)?????
Sorry if this has been covered....im just not where i can get dynoed once every month or two to make sure my tune stays on par.
I just think if those things do happen, a flash with the xede would work greatly....

Since you might not hear back from an official word from the shop till monday Ill try to give you some basic info. The ECU on the EVO doesnt "learn" there are primary and secondary maps (one for good conditions and a safer underlying map for less than optimal conditions). So the offsets of the xede will have their desired effect on whichever map the ECU is running based on the conditions. Now the xede with SMART does have the ability to adapt the fuel/AFR/and now boost but thats the xede not the ECU. Now if you have another companies flash or an xflash with an xede on top you cannot use the vishnu basemaps because this is like double tuning and may be dangerous and very inconsistant. If you have an xedeflsh there is no fuel tuning unless you have bigger injectors.

yeah, i understand all of the last part.....i been running the xede since i bought the car, with only the xede flash.
BUT, i was talking to a few people who said after custom tuning onthe dyno, when they went back 2 months later....their A/F was back rich as hell. Thats why i was asking if it would be better to run a mild flash under the xede so it would only revert back to the flash map instead of what it "thinks" the car should be doing based on stock mapping of the ECU.
Thanks for your answer Dave. So you don't think that the ECU trys to revert to tamer timing and fuel curves after it pulls timing a time or 2?

The ECU won't learn open loop fuel trims. So the tune won't ever fall off, or become less agressive over time. The only control the ecu has over fuel trims are during the closed loop situations.

Jeff,
Let's just say hypothetically that the Vishnu guys here are wrong and that the ecu DOES rob you of your Xede tune over time....
Even IF that was the case, all you would have to do is pop off the battery terminal once in a blue moon which would reset your ecu. No need for a retune...
I personally don't think that happens, but there is a solution in any event.
