HELP updating firmware!!!
HELP updating firmware!!!
Im trying to get my xede installed today, and running into problems.
when i attempt to update the firmware, using either xmap 3029, 3031, or 3.2, i get an error message somewhere durring the process, usually a couple seconds after it hits 'programming'
---------------------------
XMap3
---------------------------
Program error :
ProgramFlash failed.Flash:
Write: No checksum received
Monitor: AknowledgeCommand: No aknowledge received.
Com: Receive: Timeout or Lost of data
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
---------------------------
XMap3
---------------------------
Program error :
ProgramFlash failed.Flash:
Write: Send command has aborted
Monitor: SendCommand: The checksum is incorrect.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
I think i got a different message once also, but didnt copy it.
FYI, i am using XMap because my laptop has a USB/Serial cable which runs on COM5, and XUpdate doesnt seem to go up to COM5.
Also, in the instructions, it says to connect the boot cable, put the car in on position, start the update, turn car off, then start car. by 'start' do they mean 'turn on' or actually start up the engine.
If i just turn it to on, the above happens. if i actually start the car, it never starts the update.
ANY IDEAS?!?!??!?

I changed my USB/Serial adapter to COM1, used XUpdate, same problem and same error messages.
When i setup the update, turn the car off, then start it, the update never even starts. only when i turn off, then just to 'on' position, then it starts going. i have tried turning it to 'on', waiting for the process to start, then starting the engine, same errors.

Try leaving the car on and running before you even start....that was what ended up working for me. For whatever reason, my Xede did not like the new firmware and didn't want to accept it.

GENIUS! I think that is the only combination i didnt try. I started the car, THEN luanched XUpdate, then hit GO. It didnt prompt for reset or anything, just started transferring. it completed, i disconnected the boot wire, launched XMap 3.2 and loaded maps. all is OK!!!
VISHNU, if you read this, you guys should really start a troubleshooting webpage for people to easily find answers to problems such as this.
