Is my Xede shorting out?
Yeah its me again, and the WTF saga continues.
Since I can't re-wire my Alky kit till next weekend, I decided to go back to the trusty VP110 fuel. I went to my friends to hook up the lap-top and re-install my 110 octane dyno map. (he has it stored in his computer.) upon downloading the map, like he has done many times before, we went 10 FEET and heard a POP-POP sound, and the car stalled. (laptop still plugged in) he put the original Dyno4mance map back in, and we went 20 feet till POP-POP and the car died. sounded like a BAD misfire!
We then went down the road, and the problem was GONE!!?? dont understand that, but when I dropped him off, he disconnected the laptop, and when he placed the Xede in its position next to the ECU, the car revved up to 3K, for 20 seconds, and my friend told me to take my foot off the gas, and I told him it wasn't on the gas, and he wiggled the wires on top of the Xede, and the car died!! The familiar POP-POP died.
I believe there is a short? you shouldn't be able to adjust the idle of the car, just by wiggling the wires to the Xede, can you? If you are looking at the Xede, label side facing you, its the connector on the right. (I think, but its the grey connector with the most wires on it.)It seems to run fine if you dont touch the wires, is this a concern? or just a minor nusiance? I will further drive the car today to see if it is an issue with drivability.
I promise I wont bother you again with any more of my problems, I think I will hire a violin quartet, to play me a song every time I approach the car!

It's saturday morning and only like 8 am on the west coast. Don't worry, you'll get your love once our hangovers wear off.
I'm really not qualified to trouble shoot your problem, but I wonder. For the car to rev like that (to 3k by itself), it seems like either:
a) The idle system has been altered
b) the TPS signal is getting screwed.
EDIT: notice that the Evo Xede does _NOT_ use the TPS signal.
Did you notice any change in throttle response behavior? If there's damaged electronics, I would bet it's in the harness. The actual Xede unit is very rugged. I believe it came from tractor engine duty originally.

I have no driveability problems now, But If i grab the wires as they exit the connector on the Xede,(with the car idling) the car would die, or the revs would go up!, I just dont want it to short circut, or fry my wiring harness. I guess there must be a loose wire somewhere, who knows, has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks in advance.
Again, I have 2 1/2 years of no problems with the Xede, and I am sure it is not product related, Maybe I took the connectors out too many times to have Shiv "flash-it", and caused a wire to come loose. And NO, I didn't pull it out by the wires. Just wondering if long term problems could arise, or the "loose" connection can lead to some parameter NOT being read while I "get on it".

Hello Shiv,
Thanks for answering, I am going to have the issue hunted down on Monday, I am sure it is an easy fix, as it only happened when the lap-top was plugged in, and that probably "pulled" a connector (pin) out ever so slightly, as usual, the support you guys give and your product ROCKS! see you soon in GA!
