I'd give it a shot.

We'll certainly give this a shot. Anyone know where us Californians can buy this fuel from? I should only need 10 gallons or so to make a map for this fuel.

You mean you can get our cars to run on alky alone with no problems with O2 sensor or any other problems?? This would be great, a full tank of alky. The added power would or should be greatly enhanced shouldn't it?

I ethanol is safe and feasible to run in our cars without any substantial hardware changes (other than perhaps larger injectors), I'm totally game for making a map for it. Might not start up as cleanly as normal pump gas. But it looks like it will make helluva lot more power, have lower emission and add a lot of cool factor I'd be most curious as to what kind of fuel efficiency we would get with the lower energy fuel. Certainly worth experimenting with. Anyone game??

Shiv
But the big three manufacturers offer vehicles that run 80/20 now(ethanol/gas) Flexifuel. Ask one of them if there are any differences in the fuel lines or what not. I'm game, gotta get a Xede first though. Costing me Almost $50 to fill up the Evo with 93 Octane V-power.

I know. It's ridiculous. In CA, we're paying $3/gallon here for our CA91 octane junk.

That is ridiculous. So Shiv, what can we do??? I don't even have anything done to my Evo yet in a year of owning it. Now when I get ready to buy a staged upgrade from you, the fuel price absolutely skyrockets. I have six vehicles, and i'll be damned if everyone of them is tuned to use 93 or 94 octane. I'm screwed.

I started selling all of my race MX toys because of this, even my new baby my YFZ450 quad. I think I'm going to have to sell my soul just to pay for gas. Maybe not, the current administration has already done it for us.

I've been on the hunt for a source of E85 now with no luck. That website has no distributors listed in Oregon at all! I sent an email to a company called SeQuential Biofuels LLC (http://www.sqbiofuels.com/) asking where I might be able to get some, but they haven't replied yet. I went to to the place I buy toluene from (which went from $31 for 5 gallons to $43!) and asked how much ethanol 200 (the only kind mixable with gasoline) would cost me. He said it's illegal for them to sell ethanol 200 and I would have to go through the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. And even ethanol 190 is almost $10/gallon! I can't believe I'm in the leftist communist pacific northwest and I finally agree to one of their schemes, but I can't seem to be able to actually do it. I might just have to ***** & moan to my congresspeople. Never thought I would be looking for a sponsorship from a farmer in the midwest...

This is all very interesting. I've read some interesting advice about running ethanol from hotrod over at the Aquamist forums. He also has some interesting advice over at the NASIOC forums as mentioned earlier. Here's some links to check out: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803341

Woud it be possible to use this ethanol/gasoline mix to beat an emission test?

Don't see why not, ethanol increases oxygenate. Just don't dump a bunch of rubbing alchol in your tank because to mix with gasoline it needs to be nearly 100% pure. E85 fuel would probably be your only option unless you are in the moonshine business
