Smart LC-1 and XD-1

I just finish installing my smart kit and xd-1 but my xd-1 gauge does not read the afr correctly and shows -.- after a few minutes. Did anyone hook this gauge up to the lc-1 successfully? I have the following set up.

XD-1 out port terminated
XD-1 in port connected to LC-1 out
LC-1 out port connected to XD-1
LC-2 in port terminated

The gauge shows 4.x afr and then -.-

I believe that I have:

LC-1 In - Not terminated (terminated when programming)
LC-1 Out - To XD 1 In
XD-1 Out - Terminated

give that a shot.

I tried unterminating the in port of the lc-1 and the gauge doesnt do anything but light up and show -.-

Only thing I havent tried is using the software and connecting to the gauge, did you do anything with the software?

Yes use the Innovate CD that came with the kit. Mine is set-up this way

LC-1 IN- Terminator plug
LC-1 OUT Jumper wire to XD-1 IN
XD-1 OUT- Serial plug for laptop.

Make sure you don't have the calibration ground hooked up, you only need it hooked up if you want to do a free air calibration, or use a push-button switch (open circuit) for faster calibration. When you do a free air calibration make sure the sensor is out of the ext pipe or make sure the car has been off for a good 12 hours.

This may be how mine is also. i forgot i do leave my serial laptop cable plugged in. However, when you want to program the XD-1, you have to unplug the cable to the LC 1 and terminate it.

Here is a simple way, the first unit that is hooked up in series is the unit that will be able to program, so if you have both the lc-1 and xd-1 the lc-1 will be able to be programed. Now if you want to progam the xd-1 unplug the xd-1 IN jack and terminate it, now you will be able to set your values or change colors.

EDIT: Just re-reading do not terminate the xd-1 out port just leave the serial cable plugged in. When you start up the car there will be an E2 flashing for about 1 second then the WB will start to heat up, and you should be set to go

By any chance did you guys calibrate through the xd-1? Because after playing around with my wiring, plugging and unplugging cables(tried connecting the serial to out port on xd-1 shows -.-), I got the gauge to read 5.x afr and a minute later it tries to recalibrate my lc-1 even though the calibration wire is disconnected. Its a pain in the *** to keep testing because I have to keep jacking the car and unplugging the sensor to recalibrate.

You can calibrate it through the xd1 u have to press the button 3 times after letting the car set for atleast 10 hrs for the gas fumes to get out of the exhaust. It supposably calibrates itself that way. YOu only need to unplug it when changing sensors. sounds to me like your sensor is calibrated wrong or possibly bad. Where is the sensor installed. Did u drive the car any with the sensor in the pipe and it not hooked up?

Yea for some reason it just calibrates on its own after a minute, I didnt have to press the button at all. Well at least the lc-1 works and I can finally see some afr's. Only ****ty thing happened was I had smart map loaded up and when the gauge decided to calibrate on its own the lc-1 my car was driving like poop and wanted to die at every stop. Luckily I pulled over quickly to make the changes to the maps to stop smart.

Im wondering if I could have a defective gauge? So nobody here encountered any problems with the gauge showing 5.x afr from a perfect calibration on the lc1?

well it shouldnt be doing it on its own... did you ever have a calibration switch hooked up before? if so, check that switch and its wiring, that could be what is setting off the calibration..

i have never initiated calibration from my gauge...

Yes it was hooked up before for the previous calibration. After I am done I take out the black calibration wire and tape it off. Any more ideas? Thanks

All your grounds are on the same point right? Might just need a heater calibration.

Yea I wont be back in chitown for another few days do you come down here often?

The lc-1 and xd-1 is not sharing the same ground point. Do you think this is the problem? they are sharing the same power though.
