Launch control kicking my arse HELP
Launch control kicking my **** HELP
Okay here's the deal. I am heading to the track tomorrow and I am trying to configure launch control to engage at 5000 RPM instead of 6000 RPM.
Every time I drop the top three rows down to -100 at 5000 RPM the launch limiter works great but after a no lift shift and the clutch is completely released I get fuel cut or some sort of violent jerk once or twice before the RPM climb back up. I have tested this at other RPM levels and have made sure my foot was not on the clutch.
Can anyone else test this to verify is not just me? Please set your NTLS to 5k and try to make a pass.
What load is the car at when studderboxing?
What load is it at when NLTing?

I had the same problem with doing NLS at 5k. The car kept jerking. Setting it at 5500 worked perfectly for me. Basically to avoid that you need to set the studder point a little higher than the RPMs you get right after you shift. (I shift at 7k, so when I go to the next gear I end up at approximatly 5200) That violent jerk you describe is really bad for the drivetrain. I actually broke my rear diff the other week doing just that!!
The quaife in the front held up pretty well though.. haha
btw, when you modify the LC table, you still have a 100 RPM difference on the X axis between 0 and -100 right?

Well isn't that just **** poor! I wonder why I get fuel cut when the clutch is completely out! I wonder if the clutch is slow to bounce back to the stop and thus makes it look like the clutch is still depressed.
I dont believe my charter has a 5500 option. Can you configure that map to your liking?

I sure wish the damn thing would work like its supposed to...when the clutch is out it shouldn't be cutting fuel ....wonder why there is a delay.
It would be nice if this issue could be corrected. I dont like launching under boost at that high of an RPM. I fear the xfer case demons will attack.

5k is too low for a NLS.....you RPMs never go back that low when you shift above 7k.
You aren't gonna hurt you t-case on a launch if you don't just 'dump' the clutch. 5500 or 6k isn't gonna hurt anything if you don't dump the clutch.

I'm not so sure about that.....I've seen people with out studderbox kill their xfer case at the line and they weren't even building boost. I guess its possible they dumped the clutch or had removed their restrictor pill but it still scares the crap out of me. I will try adding a 5500 RPM point and see if that fixes my problem.
I would still like to see someone else test the 5k NLS to see if they have the same thing happen to them.

if you aren't gonna take advantage of it and launch hard, just set it high enough(6k) where you can launch without launch control at 5k-5500 and still use the NLS.
no purpose of building boost on the line, if you are gonna baby it.

I just feel that 5k with 10LBS of boost is plenty of umph off the line.
I had my DSM w/DSMLink configured this way and it was perfect for a 1.8 short time. I could have been more aggressive but I dont like breaking parts. Not only that but I have 21k on my stock clutch and I doubt it will appreciate a 6k 10PSI launch.

I've tried the different settings to get the bounce faster....and the bounce does get faster by pulling less fuel.....but the jerk is there after the shift is completed reguardless.......Unless the RPM level is set at a point higher than the RPM after the shift.
I'm curious what template are you running (that includes the NLS map)?

PM me your email ..... I will send it to you.
I just got back from the track.....I used the 6k stutterbox and NLTS.....ended up spinning all four wheels through most of first gear (video to follow)....my best pass was 12.846@108.210 with a 1.849 short time. This is with the stock 28k mile clutch and semi wet tires from being force to drive through water prior to staging.
