Turbo magazine project EVO XEDE meth map inside

The car is an 03 Stg 1+ EVO. Running two maps. One for straight 91oct. And one for 91oct with Methanol (100%, no mix). The 91 with meth map is attached below.

The meth kit is basic kit from AMS minus the MAP sensor (since the XEDE is generating its own 0-5v methonol control signal). When testing out these maps, make sure the AFR is in the Happy Zone in your SMART fuel maps

The car, running 25psi of peak boost, tapering to 18psi by redline, made 320whp on our dyno a couple of weeks ago and 380whp on the XS Engineering dyno a few days ago (from what I've been told). It's a strong one, especially for not running the 10.5 housing. So be careful driving it. And don't run out of methanol!!! We should have SMART leanrun protection working the way we want it to within a week or two.

Cheers,
shiv

Shiv, what are your thoughts on the AMS kit? I'm asking, beccause at the SoCal dyno day you mentioned that about 50% of the time (IIRC) the h20/alky injection kits don't work right. Do you feel that AMS has gotten things to a point where it's significantly more dependable than previously? Do you feel comfortable recommending a kit like the one from AMS? Thanks.

Thanks Shiv, I did not reallize that you can copy and paste on XMAP3.2 now!
PS. How do you copy and paste again? Are there instruction somewhere?

Just open up two instances of XMAP and copy and paste the map data from one file to another. To copy, just select the whole or part of the map, right click, and select "copy map data."

Then paste it where you want it to go. Very intuitive...

The AMS is just fine. My only concern with alcohol is that it runs out. And that applies to any system. And when it does, the engine runs horribly lean and usually blows up in no time. I also don't dig the idea of keeping meth under the hood in the IC spray resevoir. I think meth is a great way to make a lot of power when you need it. But it is certainly more risky that running a race gas map and race gas. Lachlan from Chiptorque (who is here right now) and I are trying to finish off the SMART Leanrun Protection feature to guard against just this

Let me know when you're done, as I'll probably have to make a run up to San Fran. How about meth in the trunk with an '05

Actually, I think I favor running alky/h20 (windshield washer fluid). It's readily available in case you're running low.

Ok, here is the problem. I open xmap 3.2 up and open the base map with launch control. Now when I tried to open the other map 91 oct meth map, the base map with launch control dispappear. Also, when I highlight the map and right click it I do not have the option"copy map data". I will get "fill in the colum, row, offset, interpolate, etc........." It is not intuitive as xede is my second language. I am such a noob at this

Sooooooooo, while my car is in the shop, on a trailer, or broke down somewhere, I have more time to think. I have the MAP sensor, and DO NOT have the SMART system yet, can I still plug into the XEDE for the signal? or do I wait till I get SMART? I assume this map above wont work for me either with the MAP sensor correct?

I bet someone will tell me to plug it in, go WOT down the country road somewhere, I blow up, and go away! You guys got to be getting tired of hearing about my car woes!

I'm really glad Shiv posted up this thread. It has really got me thinking about methanol injection. Hmmmmm

Good luck smokedmustang, we all have our ups and downs.

Nevermind, just got it . I've been running the old version of xmap3.2.
Kevin, I hope your car will be around next year. It will be fun running together at some event. I know for a period of time I was I was not very happy with my car after dynoformance but after road america, going back to stock intake and cajun power help I realized that I have just owned everybody on the track which put a happy smile back on my face.

Glad to hear things are better with you. Yes we will get together next year, and I promise to bring a broom in my trunk, so when my car blows up, I can sweep the track so you wont puncture a tire!
