Cool Vishnu Launch Control: Reviews appreciated!

Its going to be a nice day in the Midwest today, was thinking about hooking up the launch control wire. I have a few questions:

1. Easy to hook up?
2. Changes needed to the XEDE maps?
3. What are your impressions of it?
4. Should I keep a Broom handy? (incase the car doesn't hold together, got to keep the street clean for the traffic behind me)

As always, Thanks for your help!

Thats so thoughtful of you.

Let us know how it goes.... I wouldn't mind adding launch control on my xede.

I just care for my fellow man! or Woman!

Not many people have it? or are using it? You guys just want me to hook it up, and blow it up, and report WHY it blew, correct?

Lightbulb

I uprgraded to version 3.2 about 2 months ago and added launch control. Actually hooking up the launch control was quite simple, I had more problems updating the firmware on the xede, but it was only because my serial cable didn't work. Once I got that straightened up, it was a piece of cake.

I like it, but I have yet to use it at the track to see how it fares because I'm still on the stock clutch and it's already on it's way out. What I found more impressive than the lc is the no-lift-to-shift. It makes for super fast and smooth shifting holding 12-18lb of boost during shifts.

As for xede maps, I think the newest version software can be used to automatically convert your version 2 maps. At the time I upgraded you couldn't do this, you had to convert it manually, so I would think it should be no problem.

I'd say go for it

you will love the launch control.. and the NLS.. great additions. my car built nearly 20 psi off the line. and it will hold neaarly 20 psi.. great mod that actually lowers 1/4 mile times without increasing power out put!!

Smoke, go for it. I just tried out the nlshift and it make power shifting a thing of the past. As for launch control, I have a hard time since I bogg with it everytime? don't know when to let the clutch go. i am use to feathering the gas and launch while slipping the clutch.

yes but you can set it to where ever you want. it allows you to build boost off the line. SO you can launch harder.

I have been launch controll and NLTS user since it was released. I too am on the stock clutch and when it decides to give up I'm probably gonna put another stock clutch in the car. I've done quite a few stutterbox launches and haven't had any problems. I dont let the car build up too much boost, normally 10 PSI feels good. I pretty much end up dumping the clutch (I wouldn't advise this method with an aftermarket clutch).

The great thing about LC is it makes launching idiot proof. No bogging no inconsistant passes just rock solid repeatable launches. The combination of LC and NLS shaved two tenths off my quarter mile time.

That's pretty much it. You never let off of the gas, just punch the clutch, shift, let it out, and hold however many rpms you have it set for in-between shifts. I have mine set at 6,000 rpms right now, and it's awesome. One word of advice though, the clutch sensor is super-sensitive, so if you accidentally have your foot on the clutch just a hair, or get on it a little when you're getting ready to shift, when you hit that rev limiter, it's like running into a brick wall.

There is one bug I've found with the LC. Rebound is sluggish ...so if you set your stutterbox to 5k and quickly go to make a shift you will hit the limiter again. I have been unable to run a limiter lower than 5900.
