Basically, if I accelerate rapidly and shift anywhere over 5K RPMs, car continues to rev all the way to redline with my foot off the gas. Seems to only happen for 1-2, 2-3 shifts and sometimes 3-4. It has actually sat there and bounced off the rev-limiter all by itself. Started a few weeks ago around when the weather got colder. I don't think the throttle is sticking. Any thoughts?

 

This is not an uncommon scenario for Evos, although yours is probably the worst case I've heard of. Some things to try:

- clean your throttlebody
- change your tranny fluid
- check your BOV (spring tension, installed correct?)

My Evo did this last winter (rpms rose 400 rpms when shifting) and it went away after I changed the tranny fluids. Some Evos will do this no matter what, others will respond to the above remedies. There's a big thread on this subject: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh....php?p=2546866
