Turboxs knocklite experience!!

well this is the story: i installed the knocklite using the factory knock sensor i used the level 10 on the sensor which is the least sensible. So the strange thing is that the light comes on when the car is passing 5500rpm to 7000+rpm , iam using the vishnu downloadabel 91oct map for the xede so i got scared thinking i maybe had a bad gas tank so i was almost emptyed so i put in 2 galons of vpracing gas with 99oct and i also added octane booster just to make sure it was 100+oct in my tank using the 91oct map in the xede ,so i went for another ride and the samething happens the light comes on after 5500rpm all the way to 7000+rpm so iam thinking thats imposible to happen also i see full boost between 3500rpm to 5000rpm and at 55000rpm to 7000rpm boost is tappering down so i think its just not a precise tool to see knock! so what do you friends think about this ???

If the noise is still present on race gas and low boost, then it's just engine noise and not knock. Try turning down the sensitivity of the unit. Also, doesn't the unit come w/ its own knock sensor?

The unit is probably calibrated for the sensor that comes in the kit. You need to mount the sensor somewhere in the block. You keep the stock sensor hooked up to the ECU.

the knocklite doesn't work well with the stock sensor, i had the exact same problem. then i bought the bosch one that turbo xs sells and installed it and it works great with no problems at all, you don't have to use the same location as the stock sensor. on the front of the block under the exhaust manifold, there is a bolt hole by the #2 cylinder that works perfectly fine

Stupid question:

What rpm do you have the shift light function set to?

Stupid question #2:

You're not confusing the shift light with the knock light, correct?

True, TurboXS recommends that you use a separate knock sensor.

Yeah what color is the light? There are two colors. Red and Green. One is for knock and one is for a shift light.

I would venture to say that while using the stock sensor the Knocklite is picking up the natual noise floor of the engine, which ramps up from 5500-7000 RPMs. This topis was covered in an old SMART thread back in the day...
