I'm assuming that the knock buffer that is "included" with the XEDE is still a separate device, right? (i.e. it has not been integrated onto the XEDE circuit board...)

My question also.

I would like to upgrade to smart. How much is that going to cost me seeing as I already purchased a creader from you guys and do not have the knock buffer.

*edit*

More details on the meth control? does this upgrade just mean Ill need only a pump, tank + nozzle ?

Yep. You eliminate the need of all control electronics (controller and map sensor). This saves around $250, give or take.

This is how it works: Using the currently unused 0-5v analog output on the XEDE, we hook up our methanol control box. This converts the 0-5v signal into the necessary signal needed to directly drive the methanol pump. Being able to discretly generate a signal means that we don't have rely on a simple 2D map to dictate methanol delivery. This means that we can now map the system as a function of RPM as well as load. Which means better tuning and more power.

As far as safety goes, we integrate this system with the Lean run protection in our SMART system. This means that if the pump were to ever fail, or meth were to run out, or jet were to clogg, or etc,... the resultant lean-run condition (which would destroy the motor if gone unchecked for even a second or two) would trigger a giant fuel cut. Essentially protecting the engine so it can live another day

Another advantage of true 3D control is that we can turn off the methanol at or near redline so that you never get a condition where the injectors shut off but meth keeps on flowing. This condition is nearly as bad as pump failure as it can also potentially trigger an engine threatening leanrun condition.

We're piecing together our own kit using only the necessary components. The parts should come in later this week and give another week or two for testing/tuning.

Well for new buyers this is a VERY sweet deal. Holy discount from hell especially since you now get the knock buffer included.

For those of us who already paid nearly twice that it's somewhat crappy since our resale value just took a crap!

There are other reasons for the sale which I think everyone will be happy with when the day comes... We didn't mean to pi$$ anyone off who paid full price but one day everyone is going to say... "ah, that's why they did it". And before anyone askes, we are not redesigning the XEDE so don't expect expect it to be obsolete anytime soon

I'm happy that you are having a sale....I just wish current XEDE users could get the knock buffer for cheaper than $100. Especially since its now included in the base kit and is still nearly half the price.

Currently I'm about 99% happy with my XEDE. I just wish I could read and log knock.

Shiv, for those of us with V2 XEDE's can we send them in and have them retro fitted with the knock buffer and upgraded to V3.2? If so how much would that cost?

Thanks!

You will definitely not be getting "screwed" if you snag an XEDE In fact, when you look back in 2-3 months, you'll be happy you did.
