Smile The Power of the XEDE

Black is RX6 turbo (27psi) and red is GT3076 (29psi). I am going to bump up the boost on the RX6 to around 32psi later this week . I just need to call Shiv and ask him a few questions first. The GT was tuned by Shiv and the RX6 was tuned by me .

RX6 is at 471whp/421tq (97 octane)
GT3076 is at 430whp/417tq (100 octane)

Looks good Were you the guy that ran the 11.x @122+mph the other day? There is some reference to it in the NW forum. It said he had a GT30R and an XEDE though..

That wasn't me. He is on the forum though. I think he drove down to you guys for the tune.

Are you going to be available for some questions tomorrow?

I'm going to be out most of the day tomorrow... got some errands to run and some xede testing to do before my overseas trip on Wednesday (going to Italy for 4-5 days). I should be around the office most of Tuesday though. That may be a better day to get a hold of me.

Here are my questions if you have time to answer them tonight. If not, I will call you Tuesday.

Can I add positive timing in the regions of the map where boost is low? Like the 3500-4500rpm range where I am making 7-15psi. What increments should I use?

What timing increments do you use when adjusting the timing map? I had a knock event happening in the 5000-6000rpm range so I took out -.5 from my zero'd out timing map and got rid of it.

How high of a positive number can I use in the fuel table on my 680cc injectors before they go static? Right now I have the 6000-7000rpm range zero'd out and I am reaching ~11.9-12.0 AFR.

Also, do you have any tuning tricks, that you would like to share, regarding tuning for faster spool up?

Here's a screen shot of my MAF table at 90%. I got to 95% yesterday .

Yes, you can add positive timing under boost. But I recommend only doing this below 4500rpm. Don't do more than a couple of degrees though. And even then, do it in small increments.

Yep, i use 0.2-0.5 degree increments when tuning these cars. This is the biggest advantage of an XEDE over a reflash (which can only tune in 1.0 deg increments). For a car that only runs single degree advance numbers throughout most of the RPM band (under boost), 0.5 degs of unneeded ignition retard is going to cost 10-15lb-ft of torque. This is of the unique things about EVO tuning. All the timing control/tuning is subtle. That's why SMART works so well since it can make those super small changes so quickly.

You can go positive as you need to. I'm just surprised that you need to. I've never had to do that myself. But then again, I've not tuned your turbo with your particular set-up.

Also, do you have any tuning tricks, that you would like to share, regarding tuning for faster spool up?
Get a smaller turbo j/k.. well not really. Short of anti-lag, there is little you can do on the tuning end (assuming already decent tune) to reduce boost lag. People talk about running less timing, more timing, less fuel, more fuel, bla bla.. but the differences between them, as far as boost response goes, is small.

Wow... that's some pretty big load numbers. Might want to put a 100% load point in there to give you some extra overhead Are you running stock intake plumbing?

Thanks for the answers . I am using the stock MAF, airbox, air filter. The intake tube is 3" w/ breather and BOV ports. I am going to get this bad boy to 32psi on 100oct later this week.

I can actually run around 25psi on pump (92oct) w/ no knock too. This will be the ultimate road tune vs. dyno tune contest come the 25th

I went and added some positive timing values, 0.2-2.0 degrees from 1000-4700rpm, and wow did that make a difference. I am going to bump it up a little more and see if I can get any more improvement.

Its off my GTech RR. Its just a road dyno. I just do it on the same road in order to keep the the results somewhat accurate. It actually works pretty good.

I thought g tech pro used 2nd gear pull.
was this 2nd gear pull?

On a 100hp Honda that's fine . On an EVO you need to use 3rd gear. IIRC, In the manual it even states that higher HP cars need to use 3rd.
