Are camgears necessary in a 1+ setup?

I have a questions... i have an 05MR with turboback, highflow cat, walbro, xede v390 91oct, hks 264/272, and i was wondering if cam gears are necessary in this setup. When i had the cams installed at roadrace they told me the gears were not necessary so i didnt have them put in, but now im wondering if that would get me more power. What do you guys think?

They are certainly not necessary, but if you are planning to run an off the shelf map for a stage 1+ (v390) keep in mind that those tunes were packaged with the idea that cam gears are installed and are set at -2/-2 or -3/-3.

I supose thats kinda like saying that cams arent necessary with a turbo kit. Yeah sure, you could run the turbo kit on stock cams, but would it be as good? No.
