I'm not looking to go as far as a new turbo. As I mentioned, I'm just trying to maximize what power I have left on the table. I do mostly autox, so my next mods are probably going to be something suspension related (whatever happened to those Ohlins setup, guys??)

I don't think I'll be able to make Vishnu's trip to Turbotrix in April... I'll catch you guys the next time you're around the east coast - it should give me some time to save up for a TME and a XEDE. Stepping up to a XEDE will also give me the option for alky in case I ever need it. Thanks for the help, guys.

He has a 10.5 hotside - will the TME be that much of a diff?

Interesting question... I thought Dustin caught that I had a 10.5 hotside.. confirmation?

Yeah it does actually. To give you an idea, my car made 295whp with a 10.5. Smogrunner had the same mods as me, and his car made ~305whp. Its a worth while upgrade as far as stock turbos go.

Edit...Dustin on Sean's computer...I keep forgetting to sign out!

It all depends how hard core you are. The easiest way to pick up 30HP would be a wet nitrous kit. Its bottle fed power but what do you need the extra HP for?

I'm at the same place you are. I refuse to upgrade the turbo because the "like stock" aftermarket snails aren't making much more power.

I guess you could turn to weight reduction and race gas. The only other thing that appears to help RECOVER horsepower is a intercooler chiller.

I've done all the little crap I'm gonna do. FMIC, LICP, O2, CG, and drop in filter.

Every once in awhile I look at the stock intake pipe and filter and the voices tell me that the lumpy stock intake pipe is restrictive but I haven't decided to try an aftermarket pipe just yet.

Thoughts?

Yeah, nitrous is definitely more involved than I want to get. I would really prefer and drop it in and forget about it solution. After all, the less stuff you have running, the less stuff there is to break, right?

I will try the TME, and I've also heard good things about the Revolver cams over the HKS cams. But those comments are usually coming from the other camps and I would like to know what Vishnu thinks of them.

I've also done the O2, IC, and LICP.. not sure what else I can really go for from here on it without sacrificing drivability or spending big bucks (blueprinting, port matching?) Plus I'm not even sure how much, if any, port matching will do for me.

I wouldn't do the TME since you already have the 10.5 hotside the only gain you'll see is in spool.

That is an expensive mod for 200 rpm of spool.

I wish someone would make an honest report about the intake pipe and conical filter. Some say they pick up HP some say that is bogus dyno info. I can see where a filter in the engine bay with the hood closed would be bad and I can see how the stock intake with high pressure cold air snorkle on the nose is a good thing.

I do know Shiv has historically disliked intakes - the fact that their shop car runs a stock intake is enough for me to stay stock as well.

Will the TME compressor only affect spool? I do not have the TiAL shaft - I had thought the TME had minimal gains over the standard 10.5, which is why I didn't get the TME the first time around (that and also at the time it was like $250 vs like $1000).

Vishnu, do you guys happen to have any dynographs of an XFlash upgraded SMART XEDE? I'm sure some of your customers have done so.. I'd really like to see the pure mathematical difference in such an upgrade.

You pick up quicker boost by the lighter turbine wheel.

The compressor wheels are supposedly the same. Unless if someone knows otherwise between the compressor wheels of a tdo5hr/a-16g6-10.5 unit.

Which shop car? The Hyundai ,Porsche or the Street Kings car? Or is there a new beast that has flown in under the radar?

Well, not the shop car anymore, but what WAS the shop car. Ya know, the red one that went through hell and back.

Both Sean, Dustin and myself have Stg 1+ Evo 8s that run the stock box. Shiv's old red Evo had (and still has) a stock box with a GT30R. The new Evo that we'll have soon is also destined to keep the stock airbox unless we find something that works better and more consistently.

do you use a different air filter in the stock intake?

Maybe the airbox and filter are fine but what about that lumpy intake pipe?

I'm just reaching for additional little mods. I'm in the same spot.

My question is.. what are my options from here on out?
65mm throtle body is claimed to give you ~8-10 whp by 2 other vendors after the inlet to the manifold has been opened up to accomidate the larger TB..

btw, who's ic are you running?
